Wasn't going to drop $1200 on rims/caps alone, which is about the going rate for 15" bowling ball caps and rims. I'm sure the 15" tire is cheap, but everything else just wasn't happening.

I still like our 4th gens better than the 3rd gens... but Knight Rider was it in its day.

i bought the TA in january 2004. i didn't know any better at the time but i was also looking at a 98 Mustang GT. but if you look at the cars side by side the choice was pretty easy, that and the fact that the TA was rated at 305 hp and the mustang was rated at 225 hp sealed the deal.

Compared to the money and time spent on the rest of the car I wouldnt think spending $1200 to have the correct tires and wheels would have been a big deal.

Why I bought my WS6?

My Dad has a 01 NHRA Trans Am (M6). After I got my drivers license I would drive that on and off and found myself finding an excuse to drive it all the time. When it came to purchase a car I wanted an 03 Cobra but it wasn't in the cards. I was almost sold on a Silver 01 Cobra. My Dad was against me getting this. He suggested a car like his. I thought why not. I looked away from this car because I wanted to be different from my Dad. But after having this car I couldnt regret getting this car in a million years. I would never of thought it would be what it is today (see sig).

The things that most appealled to me about my Ws6:

Timeless looks. (almost exotic in my opinion)
346 cubic inch Ls1 V8 making 325hp. (making that close to the wheel)
T-65.
275/17 inch Chrome wheels/tires.
The history the "Trans Am" name holds behind it.
Upgradability in performance, despite being an animal out of the box.
Durability of the motor and tranny. Rear not so much, great for stock motor with bolt-ons.
Handles great.

Any Ws6, SS, and Firehawk shine in straight line and cornering performance. All looking stunning at the same time. A special edition F-body or any F-body for the matter all equiped with Ls1's are great performers for the money. Not only in 98-02 but that statement still is true to this day I beleive. As well as holding value for the car also.

While it was a cost issue, it was an availability issue more so. I couldn't bring myself to spend money going from a 16 x 8 tire to a 15 x 7 for that much coin. Finding a set of rims meant spending $800 - $1200, then getting them bead blasted and painted to OEM condition, then getting the bowling ball hubcaps and restoring those as well. Most people did not even notice the wheels anyways. I had a grey interior and not a tan interior like the show. I wanted my own custom conversion. Some KR freaks HAVE TO HAVE a 1982 Trans Am and everything has to be perfect. I didn't want a weezer 82 Cease Fire Injection either. I used a 89 Formula 350 that I put Edelbrock headers, Crane AFPR, Flowmaster, Taylor Wires, etc... This started my love for Trans Ams and the modding process on this conversion, both performance and appearence led to the product you see in my sig.

FWIW i dont even think the Cease Fire 305 is the correct KR motor... i seem to recall a KR ep where bonnie had the hood open and you can see an air cleaner which means it was either the 305 with the carb, or it was a 350 put in by universal.....

my own T/A has kind of a knight riderish look to it because of the black wheels..and actually the 4th gen KITT replica looked identical to mine other than the obvious $3800 KR nose, and now mine has the WS6 hood.

I wanted a 2000 ish vette.It was too much money and I didn't want to spent that much.
My friend had a 98 t/a ws6 and I liked it.I looked at some z28 ls1 camero's and I didn't think
That the interior or body styling was as cool as the trans am.I bought a black 2000 t/a
ws6 for 15k with 50k miles on ebay.18K for a car with 19k miles is a fair price if it's really clean.I would try to get them down to about 16k ish bracket if I could.I love my t/a.Best money I ever spent.

I chose mine because its SOM and the last 5 numbers in the vin are low. The price. I paid $19.500 4 years ago with 15.555 on the clock. And a paid off 01 som v6 camaro i paid next to nothing for the t/a. And i didnt even know how to drive stick.
