532 w/ M6
485 w/ A4

932 were T-tops
85 were 'verts

I don't know how those two breakdowns combined (i.e.: how many of the 932 t-tops had M6, but you could estimate by the ratios: 532/1017 = 52.3% M6, 0.523*932 ~= 488).

Johnny: I didn't think this info was available for 2001 WS6 models. I see your not 100% comfortable with the figures, however I would appreciate your best guess:

2001 WS6 - 6 speed - convertible - Bright Red

Thanks.

Of 1510 Red '01 WS6s:

1318 were t-tops
192 were 'verts

695 had M6
815 had A4

Playing ratios game, estm 88 like yours.

Please help with this one. 1994 Formula Firebird In purple pearl metallic. All my research turned up was 4789 hard top Formulas in 94, so how many were in that color? I know it is a rare color, but can't find the numbers on it.

I just found an automatic VIN decoder and ran my car through and found out mine is pretty rare. one of only 76 cars with a special sticker setup for Hawaii. I assume that means only 76 cars were shipped to hawaii in 1995. i wonder how many of them were Trans Am's.

http://www.compnine.com/vid.php

and my car was built on 10/11/94.

theres also an rpo R9Z that is unknown that had 221 units.

according to the report my car is a 1 of 1

Rarity...
There are 1 1995 FIREBIRD 2 DR vehicles (0.002%) matching your exact options list. There are 1 (0.002%) with at least as many options.
The rarity of your vehicle is based on an exact match of your options for your year and model.

Just got off the phone with SLP, and my car is build number 555 of all the TA and Formula WS6s. They said after 96 GM wanted to retain all the records so SLP sent them back to GM after the cars were completed. They dont have a break down between Formulas and TAs though

SO the answer is Yes SLP did the LT1 WS6s and only kept records in the beginning.

WOW! That is COOL! Have you checked the accuracy of the info it spits out on your car? This almost seems to be like (if not even better giving "rarity stats") the GM-VIS system I've been dying to get access to. However, I'm not sure if it's really fair to be calculating the "rarity" based off each and EVERY RPO code listed for your car. Most "authorities" on collector car rarity limits this to year, model, body style, engine, transmission and *maybe* body paint color. Things like delay wipers, # of cigar lighters and audio system aren't generally accepted as qualifiers for determining rarity.

But HEY, got it bookmarked and will play with it some more. THANKS, that's a great find!

FWIW, I compared the RPO listing this site gave me for my car and it matches my door decal exactly (no missing or extra codes). So it seems pretty accurate.

I havent checked it RPO for RPO (i have my build sheet in the glove box out in the garage) but the fact it knew my car was originally sold to hawaii makes me believe it. i especially think its cool that there were only 76 1995 firebird models sent to hawaii. that is one thing i always wondered.

Check this out. Seems those smart & kind folks at CompNine.com knew what I was wanting to do: filter their database using RPO codes to extract breakdown numbers. While plugging in VIN#s for the few '98 WS6s that I did have in an attempt to generate color/trans breakdowns for the small amount of cars I could, I stumbled across a link to a page that allows me to filter their database. After 3 days of pounding their server to extract this data, I was able to generate the previously non-existent color/option breakdown for the 1999 Firebirds, including WS6, 30ths, 1LEs and Firehawks. I decided to start with a "clean slate" and pull all of the numbers from a single source, rather than trying to "reconcile" and format inconsistent data from several sources. I've attached a screen shot of what I've done (so far, I'm planning on doing the same for the rest of the 4th gen years, and maybe even Camaros eventually).

Check it out and let me know how the format works. I've broken it down to the level of transmissions for the V8 cars, which is more detail that I've seen from the majority of other data sources.

EDIT: Cleaned this up, added AQ9 data and .PDF'd.

12/14 edit: Added exports and moved to later post.....

Sweetness.

Hate that my car is black due to the amount of them but very few had the Hurst shifter. Still very cool to have the actual info.

Here's the 2001s in .PDF. You might have to right-click/save-as and then open it from your hard drive.

I'm going to add more detail to the '99s and '00s for the AQ9 seats like I did on the '01s before I upload .PDFs of them.

Once I get all the years done, I'll put them in one new post and ask the admins to sticky it.

Are you taking into account the export cars?

I only ask cause I went through the 1998 birds on Compnine site and found my numbers differed from many posted numbers till I took out the Z49 and CW7 export cars. For 1998 the production number I have seen has been 32,157 but through compnine I get 32,947 (30,710 coupes and 2264 convertibles). That number doesnt match untill I remove the Z49 Canadian cars (592 coupes and 145 convertibles) and the CW7 PR/Virgin Island cars (80 coupes).

For example in bright green metallic the number I've always seen has been 631 produced instead I get:

1998 Bright Green Metallic = 640 total with 9 Z49 exports and no CW7 exports
Firebirds = 467 total (5 Z49 export)
Firebird Convertibles = 31 total (2 Z49 export)
Formula = 34 (no export)
Formula Convertibles = 0
Trans Am = 98 (no export)
Trans Am Convertibles = 10 (2 Z49 export)

HTH,
Steve

I am not filtering-out cars with export RPOs, so if they are included in Compnine's VIN database, they would be included in these totals. Seems only fair to include them since they were part of the production totals. What I might do though (now that you've provided the RPOs for the export models - Thanks!), is to add the quantity of cars of each model (the columns in my listing) with those export RPOs so that we at least have that info clarified and broken-out. Until I read your post, I had no idea what those export RPOs were and would've been left making educated guesses. It was hard enough to identify the new RPOs for a model year for the interior and exterior colors, Salad shooter rims, tinted rims for the 30th and 35ths, etc. Some research and educated guesses eventually paid off.

When I was initially punching in VIN#s for the '98 WS6s from my ASC list, I did stumble across a few that did not show up in their database. So either they were missed when they (or whoever they got it from) compiled their database, or the VIN# in my ASC listing was in error (I'd suspect the check-digit might have been off in a few VIN#s). Interestingly, my ASC list did not include the entire VIN# for ASC# 0001 (which was a purple T/A), so I took an educated guess by copying the first part of the VIN and began guessing the check digit and eventually stumbled across it. I've noted long ago the descrepancy between the #s listed in the '98 production from the ASC listing, the breakdown DrEvyl has posted shows only 2835 WS6s being built. Mine's #3030 and ASC claims 3086 were built so I've long known they didn't include something and suspected it was export cars. Hopefully once I complete the compilation of the '98s I'll solve that old mystery.

I haven't yet compared the production totals to other data sources to make any assessment on the "completeness" of Compnine's database, but I figure the data source with the higher totals is missing fewer cars and is therefore more credible.
