Valve job and shaved heads? A lot of factors can come into play here...

Paul, Nice! Ported TB & Intake Manifold & underdrive pulley/balancer. I'd like to see how much RWHP & RWTQ you go up. I know that keeping in mind, the more hp you make the harder it is to increase.

But I would like to see the gains from this now that you have the cam in. I have the same modding plans for my car (i.e. Cam, Ported TB & Intake, under drive pulley).

Most stock G8 GT's make 310-315 RWHP on our Dyno-Jet. In addition to Paul's car, we've done pretty much the same combo except with Kooks Shorty Headers, Magnaflow X-Pipe, and factory catback and made 415 RWHP / 399 RWTQ. We have another car here now that is getting the same package as Paul minus the catback, plus a converter.

His car made 452 / 413 with the ported intake manifold, TB, and U/D pulley.

If I had kept my GT I would have went with Livernois on this kit.

I ended up trading it for a GXP and that one runs as God intended a V8 to run, on all eight cylinders.

The LS3 sure idles and runs much smoother than the L76, it's noticable. It also sounds better at WOT. I'm also averaging excactly the same fuel consumption on the LS3 as well at 19mpg overall.

If there is a point to having cylinder deactivation I sure don't see it.

It sounds better on paper, but basically useless in the real world. Unless you're on perfectly flat ground or going slightly downhill @ 15% throttle or less its deactivated anyways. Plus there's the vibrations and the annoying drone if you're anything but stock in the exhaust department.

I still need a DOD delete. I Want that junk out of there before it breaks and takes the whole motor with it!

I believe Norm has it tuned out BUT the crappy cam and lifters are still in there.
The lifters on the 4 cylinders that have DoD are different.

So with this cam, how much can the heads be milled down before you run into problems? I'm thinking .020 would give a nice bump for compression...

Milling.020 with this cam is no problem, but that is typically what we mill if the customer wants to bump compression.

Thank you,

Rick
