Haven't driven a 535 yet. My 08 GTI (just left my driveway this past weekend) had the DSG tranny in it. what an amazing transmission.

Search around on the web for the DSG(VW/Audi) vs M DCT (BMW)

Pros and cons to both - but hands down handling and quality of build goes to BMW.

I also had a chance to tour their facility and the BMW Welt last December in Munich -
I don't see how the build quality of BMW is any better than Audi? From my experience they are both well built cars. But i have to say that I much prefer the styling of the Audi to the BMW.

There wasn't a G8 there that did not have the engine apart that could beat my TBSS.
I haven't been to Milan since the Trans Am but I am not surprised about the G8 turnout. I do not see G8 drivers as being the 1/4 mile types and more the "I wish I had enough dough for a Audi S4 or BMW 335i". I guess I am saying that the G8s may have been hanging out with the tuner crowd?

Regardless, you must be good at driving your truck down the 1/4 to get those times.

Haven't really read through the whole thread, but my brother has a 335 Coupe with nothing but a JB3 piggy back and some catless downpipes. His best time is a 12.62@111mph on pump gas. Not bad considering how great a daily driver that car is. Only downside to a 335 is the damn fuel pumps....he has already been through 2.

I have had a few new BMWs over the years and recently picked up a little '07 A4 Audi and its an extremely well built little car. I never even wanted an Audi but a friend was about to get this repo'd so I took it off his hands pretty cheap. I really got to like the little thing, its no 335 performance-wise thats for sure but its a really nice car all around.

I'm with you on the styling, but that may be because there are 100000000000000000000000 3 series BMWs driving around here and I'm sick of seeing them.

you can pick up a 05 ctsv for around 20k, g8 and 335 is around 40k.

Id rather take the v and put a few bucks in bolt ons .

but G8 is a damm nice car and new, if you got the extra money.

The 335 is overrated like any BMW, I've read they have alot of issues and recalls, nothing but problems from what ive heard.

I would go new versus used.

FWIW I got my 2009.5 G8 GT loaded for just under 30K and 0% for 5 years or 1.9% for 6 years.

if I could have afforded a 45k to 50k I would have gone Audi S4. A gal at work just got a new 335i (50k) and she loves it and had to have awd. All three are noce cars IMO. I can afford the G8 GT is all.

If you look back a little in the thread, when I was on the new car hunt, I had a $34110 sticker G8 GT for just under $26,500+Mass TTL, The 335i was down to mid 30's which I was trying to justify but couldnt because at that price the G8 GXP would have been my choice. As for the 04-05 V's, the rearend was my concern. Im not by any means hard on my cars (ie excessive burnouts etc) Hell my ZO6 tires lasted me from delivery to 22k miles haha, BUT winter driving would have destroyed the rearend. I still havent made a move but used vehicle pricing is looking pretty damn good. Couple different routes in mind at this point..

All and all if your wanting a drag car the G8 or the 335 would be better.. The rear for the V is an issue that I have never had to worry about since I have come to understand that this car was made for the twisties hence it being a beast from a roll(trap speeds ranging between 108 - 110 stock with baby jesus kissing our car to get the 110 )and we have a few companies that are coming up with a cheaper sollution for the diff problem(hendrix) that would finaly allow us to dip into the 12's stock with a good driver... BOttom line is that if your gonna Drag it the V isnt for you but if you plan on auto crossing it then the V is a heavy contender...

I would never choose a S4 over a G8 GT.. Unless you like the body style and never plan on modding the S4! A year ago I was looking into the Audi S4 and got blown away with how expensive it is to mod... Im talkin like the cost to be able to buy a second used S4...

Default CTS-V all the wAY

I guess nobody remembers the 2005 comparison between the CTS-V, 300 SRT8 and the GTO. Last time I checked the V smoked all three of the them. With that being said the GTO smokes the G8. DO the math "V" all the way. In regards to your 335I consideration. I just waxed one today on the way home from work. From Red to Green to the 335I driver throwing me the thumbs up for Baking his euro *** by 4 car lengths!!!Its all about the business in the front and the 400 + 400 party in the back!! 05 "V" Stock!!!!

Holy reviving of a dead thread Batman!!! And yes the 05 "V"s are very nice, but I like my rear to stay in one piece, thanks. And mine is 98% what the "V" was stock for $15k less.

My V is 2010 with intake pulley and catback + tune..

i trash GS vettes and almost every permeation of the GXp G8

my SS is a Tvs2300 intake headers wire , plugs , stat full suspension and full brake upgrades.

11.45 to a 11.6 is always possible....it a tad faster than my V....but only on it fastest times

they are almost equal..... So no G8 is gonna show me nothing i'm on street tires

i could drop .3 if i sued the nittos Dr or Bf dr'

i have 2 badass cars....that i 'm gonna trade for a one econobox and one 10 second stock ca r with drag radials

G8's are awesome.......but they don't beat the GTO.....sorry my LS2 was a freak

cammed and headered... was pushing over 500 rwhp

full pedders and dba brakes ...plus a custome dms front and rear + Cv8 rims.
full time Bf drag radials..

I am not sure a CTSV is going to trash a Grand Sport Corvette.

I can't see how my car could trash a GS Vette and it couldn't be that much slower than a V.
