Default twin 60's... swaping from stock exhaust to 3" duals worth 86rwhp

thanks tom at c&s dynoshop. this car is running hard! here are pics of my before and after exhaust >> http://neufamily.org/images/g8gallery/index_2.htm

before 477rwhp/504rwtq

after 563rwhp/575rwtq

thats 86hp and 71tq by dumping the stock exhaust and going with the dual 3". boost is the same, a/f still low 11's, meth still on full. that is with an extra 2deg of timing at 16deg now. the previous run was at 14deg and gave us 552hp, 14deg is what the timing we ran with stock exhaust.

next plan is to run it to the local dynojet and see what kind of numbers we see there. then as some point toss in this cam i have had laying around.

Big gains Jim. Really like the way it spools faster now. I replied to your questions about scaling tables with HPT on the other forum.

Hey Jim how am I supposed to catch up to you if you keep putting more mods on your car?!?!? Man when I get back from my 7 month "vacation" to Afghanistan I will have to get on the ball with the turbocam, tranny build, and bottom end build for this thing! By that time you will probably be in the single digits damnit. lol. Good numbers especially from a MD.

Congrats on the new numbers.
I've never resigned up on the GMmod board but browse through it every once in a while.

I need to get off my but get a motor built and send the hawk out to ya for a couple twins install.

Hope all is well.

Parish,

What mufflers are those? I've got a turbo car as well and went from open DP to 2.5" duals with no mufflers. This is a different motor so I can't compare numbers like you...but those muffs must flow to give you that kind of increase.

good job!

strait thru magnaflows. i would say the big increase is more of an indacation of how bad the stock exhaust must have been.

So is all that power making you spend less time on the Nova? Fellow squirter, running but on stands. Guess I was supposed to use an $8 oil pan gasket on my $250 oil pan.

never got any good numbers on the dynojet. ran into issues. i think the problems are mostly related to my meth kit. it is hard to get the a/f ratio dialed and then when you do it doesn't stay dialed in. add or pull a little boost and the a/f ratio is all off even though we tuned it in that area.

all this screwing around tuning takes time. i might just toss a squirt on there for the fueling and run the meth off the squrit too. i can tune that thing on the fly in very little time.

I really like this setup. I am thinking about doing a similar twin setup on my Camaro.
