Picked up my White 2009 G8 GT this past summer and of course I love it. I'm also the kind of guy that does his own work on his vehicles, but due to some injuries I couldn't really do the work myself. So the modding has been put on hold till I was well enough to 'do it myself'.
So I put a Vararam on her and deffinetly noticed a difference. Next thing I want to do it a catback. I'm looking for something with not much drone since my G8 is my daily driver. I've boiled it down to these two brands.
Anyone got any suggestions? Pro and cons?
Thanks.

Magnaflow systems have terrible drone. Steer clear if you are drone averse.

I got a 09 g8 gt too recently and want to change the exhaust. I've got my sights set on slp loudmouth but was wondering how you guys thinks it stacks up to other exhausts. also, i'm thinking about getting headers some time down the road and want to know what you guys suggest.

I love my Kooks headers and x-pipe, AHR headers are pretty much exactly the same price and quality as Kooks. There is also Doug Thorley headers out and even Pacesetters has kicked out a set. Deff. recommend some long tubes for these cars. As far as a Axle back exhaust all are gonna drone when DOD kicks on. Unless you do the Chambered Holtz idea found on this page as well because of the frequency's produced. I would say go to Youtube.com and listen to all the different exhaust that you can on G8's and try to make your decision from there. When it comes to the sound of exhaust everyone likes a bit of something different.

I know I sound like a noob but I saw on the slp website that their headers are not legal for street use and for off road use only. I live in new york, can I still get them without getting in trouble with cops?
also, about the loudmouth exhaust, even though there's a 10 hp increase, I won't even feel it right?

Here is my understanding:
Any change in the exhaust that eliminates or changes the location of the original cats is illegal. This means any headers (long tube or catted, with the exception of shorties that bolt up to the original cat) are illegal. Depending on how inspections are done in your state you might pass. Here in NC they plug into your OBD II plug and if you get no codes you're good. I had my rear O2 sensors tuned out to eliminate throwing codes with the high flow cats. I also went with the catted SLPs in the event that they did do a visual, cats are present and everything is bolted up without any welding or modifications.
