DOD, how do you know when it is activated?
Ok so i believe my 2009 G8 GT has the DOD?? how do you know when it is active? does the car act differently? I do notice a kind of pulsing/vibration when driving on the hwy at light throttle and if i give the car more throttle it goes away cus the car 'wakes up" and takes off...

If you have any kind of exhaust mod, you can hear it clunk on and off pretty easily. You will drive around town, go to accelerate and cant, then boom you will. that was AFM turning off
Highway driving 75 mph, DRONE. Never stopped.
Coolest mod to the car so far has been AFM disabled. I woulda payed a tuner money just to do that alone lol.

You can hear it if you listen closely and it makes the car feel quite sleepy. I traded my GT for a GXP and not having it is one of the best things about the GXP. The GXP averages the same fuel usage overall as my GT too, no benefit for consumption as far as I could tell.

It does kick in in any car, usually when your off the throttle. It's a pretty useless design really. On my personal car we took it off an didn't notice any real change in mpg. It's more gimicky then anything. Think about it, it only goes into 4 cylinder mode when your off the throttle or slowly cruising on the highway. You can ditch it with a tuner or do it the right way and put a cam in there.
