I lost time (.04 seconds) through the 1/4 mile putting in the 3:27 over the 2.92's. I was passing through the traps in third gear with the 2.92. I'm part way thru 4th with the 3.27's but I don't think the extra getup makes up for the lost time of the extra shift. Bottom line is I like the 3.27's on the street, definitely more get up and go but if it's 1/4 times your interested in definitely go big (3.45's).

Do you mean lost .004? What was the time you ran with both rear ends? I just order a rear diff, thinking about returning it now.

Nope I went from 12.27 best with the 2.90s and 12.31 best with the 3.27s; lost 0.04 seconds due to the extra shift. It is peppier on the street but like I said, if the 1/4 time is all you care about get the 3.45s. It all depends how much power you are putting down and what RPM you are at when you pass thru the traps. You really want to have gearing that allows you to get over 6000 RPM when going over that finish line so you are taking advantage of most of that last gear.

Are the g8 and camaro diff the same? I want to purchase a 3:70 g8 gear for my camaro
A couple of friends and I installed a 2010 Camaro 3:27 differential over the weekend in my G8.
The swap is worth the effort for performance and reliability.
I selected the 3:27 gears because I'll be installing a blower in the future and from what I've researched, a 3:45 or more gear blows the tires off.
The car certainly feels lighter and I'm pretty sure will improve my 60' times.
The swap took us about 4 hrs. and I already had the bushings installed in the differential.
Any questions you have about swap, just ask away.

My G8 gt
Agree, people launch blown cars with 1,000hp with no problems on the correct tire. Actually I've seen them go down the track on a 275 radial...
Nice, I've done the Camaro rear swap into the G8 about 5 times now and have it down to about an hour and a half. I've also done the Driveshaft Shop 9" conversion which the ultimate upgrade. The Camaro rear is a decent upgrade and you notice the size of the Camaro rear next to the OEM G8 diff. I would always go with the 3.45's but even the 3.27's, just put a real tire under the car and you wont have any traction problems.
Sounds like whoever has issues needs real tires and suspension upgrades! There are numerous people launching 600+hp cars with 3.70+ gears with no problems. The toe, trailing, and control arms need to be upgraded to take the movement out when launching. You can see the tire move back with the stock arms/bushings, if you cant keep the drivetrain straight then of course your going to have traction problems.

Questions!!! Would I be able to put a 2015 Chevy ss 3.27 diff on my 2009 g8?? Does it need to be a certain year Camaro and do I need anything before I swap it?
