Who is the best at building the 6L80 tranny
#23
2007 Reg Cab Short Bed 4800lbs with me in it on 24" wheels.
My stock 6L80 held up a good while being Daily Driven and beaten on everyday. I had a large cooler and a Circle D 5 Disc 3000 Stall. When it went out it was throwing a Solenoid code. It would crank fine Shift into Gear, Drive for about 5ft and neutralize. i replaced it with another 6L80 with upgrades Red Clutches and it worked fine for a good 6months until it would start slipping between shifts. i then pulled the current setup out of the truck.
I later talked to a friend of a friend who is a GM Service Tech and he said that a major issue they were having with the 6L80s was that a drum would crack and it would loose pressure.

I also have one that I built running with a cammed, cogged 1900 making close to 700hp that is road raced that is still together. Car has 100,000 miles and is getting a new upgraded rotating assembly since the rods are starting to buckle.
