Default ls2 goat vs 09 GXP G8 M6's

What are the weight differences and is everyone expecting some solid competition against them?

I never had solid competition from another GTO (except for my friends twin turbo)
so I wouldn't expect much grief from a 4 door with less hp than a stock gto

I doubt that. I think it will be a good race.

The GXP will have more from the factory than the stock LS2 GTO did to whoever said less above, its an LS3 and it will have a 6spd backing it.

sorry,

I was thinking the current G8 (the GT)

either way,
I'd love to see what the new GXP can do,
still doubt the extra couple HP will get them faster than a decent gto driver

(I'm an "OK" driver, I ran 13.002 with mine (stock) with a 1.8x 60' on stock tires)

so,

you guys think that 2 more HP will make it faster than a GTO?

and the "Long gears" of the Auto won't help it much either
(but the manual is getting better gears)

slightly heavier curb weight too "4023-4050 lb (mfg) " compared to the GTO's 3765 lb

http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...ook/index.html

GXPs with the 6L80 six-speed Hydra-Matic automatic get a 3.27:1 final-drive ratio, and a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual-this is the only G8 offered with a stick-comes with a 3.70:1 final drive. Pontiac rates both 402 horsepower at 6000 rpm. The automatic makes 402 pound-feet and the stick makes 400 at 4400 (all pending SAE certification).

I believe the new numbers are more like 418HP...Forgot where I saw that...I think the 6spd car with the added HP will give a stock LS2 a run for it's money..driver's race but if are cutting sub 1.9's on street tires I wouldn't be worrying either

I'm an "OK" driver too. I'll let you know what I run when I get mine. They are predicting the GXP to run 13.0's and 0-60 below 5 seconds. That should give any stock GTO a good run. I guess we'll see though.

They will still be slow, but at least have 2 extra doors for those who want them. I wont be worried.

I think they are going to be a little slower than the GTO, I just dont see them making a car quicker that the GTO when thats there performance car of choice.

The GTO was an afterthought. Pontiac could care less.

The GXP should beat the goat, stock vs stock. Much better over all gearing all around, either A6 or M6. That should take up any weight disadvantage and its making more power.

The GXP is a much better car than the GTO.

Now, if they will just make a 2dr version, I might be interested in trading in the Goat...

doubt it, the GXP is not designed to kill GTOs, it was designed to compete with BMW M5s .

...which are 2-doors. It is still a possibility, but probably not with the economy (and GM's stocks) in such poor shape.

Also, wondering where you got your build information (1 of 806). If it is a PBM/ black M6 w/ 17's, it should be 1 0f 803 (minus all the ones wrecked by idiot drivers) Just caught my eye because I have one...

if you arent worried about it then why are you
giving it attention & time?????

i'll tell you why, cuz you're worried.

allways remember, the truth always hurts,
and the biggest lies are the ones we tell ourselves.
