what is involved in changing ls2 valve springs?
I am planning on swapping out my valve springs in the near future. I am considering doing it myself (with some help) to save some dough, but i need to know what i am in for. Do i need any special tools to do a spring swap? Also, how hard is it to do? About how long will it take, and if anyone knows where i can find step by step instructions that would be great.
thanks fellas

no, you dont need air to hold the valvetrain up. putting the pistion at TDC will do the same thing. some people have even shoved some rope into the spark plug hole, then put the piston at TDC so the valves arent directly on the piston

On my camaro I found to dislodge the valve keepers to do like skidmark said and turned my engine to TDC. It doesn't hit it hard enough to hurt it and it just puts a little pressure to allow you to work with the valve. They were pretty easy on my camaro but are going to be super easy on the GTO because of ease of access.. BTW the way Johny get the Crane valve spring compressor. It is honestly the best one that I have found. It does two at a time and you can do it by yourself.
