Question Should Moser come out with a rearend for the GTO?

Tim from Moser, shown in this video http://www.powertvonline.com/video_detail.php?mId=2901 was at my shop Thursday and took a good look at the rear in jmd's GTO. Do you think there would be enough interest for Moser to invest in coming out with a stronger rear for the GTO? Bob

I'm all for it. Once this is done, with a few alterations, it could also be used in the G8 and Camaro. So I think it'll be worth it to mock up an assembly.

Price is the big concern though. How many people are willing to spend that much money? I spent $2K on my 12 bolt for my WS6 and thought that was ridiculous but I guess its what they go for.

honestly,
I doubt there would be enough intrest,

there's already a 12 bolt and 9" available out of Australia (neither sell many at all)

not to mention,
I have little confidence in moser's 12 bolts in a 4K lb car that comes with 400lb/ft of tq.
they can't even handle a 3400lb trans am with 300hp
(then when you call moser about the warranty, they tell you that there parts aren't designed for racing)

Looks like moser has screwed you in the past. The 9inch from difftech is somewhere in the 5g range, so I wonder how much it would cost moser to produce a SRA conversion for the GTO with everything that needs to be done with brakes, suspension and what not. Or do they want to produce a 12 bolt IRS?

I have a feeling the rear would be a 9 inch, which is much stronger than a 12 bolt. We don't sell many 12 bolts anymore, as the power of most cars has risen to where the 9 inch becomes necessary. Bob

Moser Engineering, founded in 1982, manufactures aftermarket performance rear end components for various racing applications.
I don't have much faith in them anymore

I don't recommend a 12 bolt with a six speed, the torque arm mount on the 12 bolt seems to stress the housing. Bob

No I didn't. They were comparing the Moser to the Strange, and I mentioned the difference in time that it takes to get one., plus the original guy who posted in that thread had an automatic! Bob

Yeah, thats pretty crappy that a company that produces racing components won't stand up to what they are selling. I do like the IRS on it and think the Harrop set ups seem to perform pretty damn good.

The Moser soloution for the GTO would be a IRS setup. There is no reason to be biased at this point, this is all in the works and it looks like people are already jumping on the bandwagon to bash them.

When/If moser comes out with this product, it will be competitively priced and will hold everything you can throw at it, no questions asked. I have full faith in Mosers Engineers and there ability to make a reliable product that will take a daily beating and survive at the strip.
