I have yet to see a GTO other then mine get out of the 14s stock. does that mean all GTOs run that. the LS1 and LS2 all running within a .1 of a second.

I am deferring to what other people have experienced because i dont believe that i can see or experience everything.

Doesn't mention head castings, but it's well known that '01-'02 have 241's and the LS6 manifold. So far I've had 3 friends (including Jared) that all have had '01-'02's and all have 241's and LS6 mani.

Better head info here:

Nice signature.....

LS2 FTW. The 6.0 may not be much faster in stock trim, but the displacement will more than make itself apparent with some modding, after all, it's still LS based.

I Did my researching and when gto's are tuned, The ls2 really comes alive. I have Hp tuners and was looking at a stock ls2 tune and wow. It is terrible. I think with exhaust and a tune I could be in the mid to low 13's easy. remember I am at 2500+ DA. So a mid 13 would be nice. So I am getting a 2006 Gto All the way.

I ran a 13.25 the same day GTwhoa ran his 13.15. He went to MIR and I went to Crapitol in MD. He could launch better than me, hence the ET difference. I had more MPH than he did on that run though. It can and did happen.

Problem is, those are all M6 cars on the LS1 side. The A4 cars were terrible. The tune is crap in those cars. Best I ever saw was a 13.6 for a stock A4. Most were 13.8-14.1. Put a tune on a LS1/A4 car and you'll gain .5 second. They are really held back and come alive with a tune.

Get whatever you want. Both can be made quick with minimal mods. But with the same money(car + mods), you'll probably be quicker in a '04.

Dude, I ran a 13.01 in my 06 GTO stock in Houston. Exhaust and tune and some better tires should def be high 12s at least.

Persoanlly I find the 04's a bit plain looking with the flat hood and the drivers side exhaust. And its hard to argue that an 05/06 having 50 more hp isnt going to be faster.
I have an 05 with nothing more than a K&N dropin filter and mufflers removed and have run 12.92 @ 108 mph.

In the end, you will mod the GTO anyway and then it won't matter if it is a ls1 or ls2. Just pick one and don't look back as I did in 2004.

Good luck!

Go for an '05-'06, because you'll already have the hood, the extra power, and the rear bumper. The '04's look boring and you'll spend a fortune trying to make it look like an '05-'06. Not to mention, I doubt the LS1 can ever sound as good as an LS2. I have an LS1 in my other car, a 2002 Z28, and it sounds dead compared to the LS2 in my 2006 GTO.

Some which is because how the exhaust system is routed on the GTO vs Z28. The GTO's sound really good with exhaust esp with cam 04 or 05/06 strange It makes that big of difference I know

BTW my times are in my signature and im no pro driver. I love My GTO. It's not the fastest LS car at the strip but still gets down pretty good.

on a side note the ls2 has 50 more hp 18 more cubes and better brakes but worth the extra money of an 04 i didnt think so

I did the 05/06 Brakes on my 04 (cleveland pick a part) and luckily the 05/06 bumper came on mine with 06 tails. No hood scoops tho...but most think its just a slow ls1 gto if the dont know the bumper. then 390 rwhp walks away (from most ha ha)

Then they think oh its the ls2 and I say nope just an LS1... ha ha either one u will enjoy awsome interior and comfy too!

Just because you havent seen something happen doesnt mean its not real look at santa clause.
I agree with your method, but the median isn't a better way to find an average, mean=average, median = middle value.
Sorry i'm a dick.

Around .3 is what you are going to be dropping by upgrading to the LS2.

In terms of the 1/4 that is all that needs to be said.

Those lists represent the best drivers at tracks all across the country. (Or average drivers at the best tracks)

All things being the same, it's going to come down to around .3.

Anyone arguing otherwise is just trying to start shananigans.

I'd agree with that as an average. I'd actually put it at .25 second but that is splitting hairs. The curves on the LS2 just make it an easier car to drive than the LS1 and get quicker ET's.

QFT. I would get the ls2 all the way, I did and dont regret spending the extra dough. My a4 05 went 12.96 @ 109, On the average its around 13.0 to 13.2. Iam very happy with it. FYI get yours dyno tuned asap. On the stock tun I had a lot of trouble getting a 13 second et. Main because I didn't know about the torque management and I was doing burouts. Get that torque management shut off asap and you will be happy.
