when did the ls2 come into production cars? wasnt it in 2005? the year after they stopped putting ls1's in performace cars. i just threw the '97 in there because the interiors of both the 04( w/ls1) are the same as the 05-06 models. but even then the ls3 came out 3 years after the ls2. idk take what i say any way you like. maybe im way off topic. maybe im not. just in case, to get back on track, the ls3 in the comaro is a superior power plant then the ls2 GTO.

i have sways....stiff coilovers, endlinks....strust tower, bushing inserts
and toe and tralil end links
i seriously doube ANY stock GXp could compare....i can midcorner WOT my car and controll it.......harnesssing all of the 490 and 515 ft lbs of torque
i've shredded a few audie on a curvy roud and many Fords.,
one only need to address the camaro's weak points.
which didn't cost that much....
the tvs 2300 with heaerder intake stat wire and plugs + tanny tune
will smoke a imialerly powered G8
please i had a full pedders GTO.....the camaro is smoother and and tighter.
i can always turn up the siffness on my CO
you G8 have an inferiority complex
i have yet to lose to ANY G8 gt or Gxp......lol
you an underpowred Cts-v at best......and i have one of those too.
g8< SS< CTs-v top dog.....remeber 556 hp 550 tq stock..
mine aint stock.

ls2 vs ls3
a year later...
i have a ls2, and ive ran plenty of SS Camaro's.. when i was bone stock the LS3 would walk me down every time.. but since my full exhaust upgrade, and what not un tuned ive raced one from a 50 roll and it was pretty close.. he had maybe a half car length on me.. u may have a better shot. i dont know what the mods are on the SS, but with ur stuff done im sure itll be close my $$$ is on you. try and post up vids when u run the SS.

If I remember correctly, stock for stock, the ls2 GTO and ls3 SS ran the same times and had the same 0-60. So I fail to see the bragging points for the new SS, or how it's a bad comparison.

God i love when people don't look at dates. 17 posts and revives a discussion of a year ago. Not to mention he misspelled more words than he spelled correctly.
The new camaro is nothing special from the factory. I have seen several at my local track running anywhere between 13.2-14.0 depending on mods, driver,DA ect. Those times are nothing GM wasn't achieving 12+ years ago..

Napper, sounds like you haven't crossed the wrong one with the right amount of money in his pockets like you. I'd sure hate for your camaro with all that stuff done to come across a stock c5 Z06 at the track... You'd learn what the difference between a car that handles good and a car you try to make handle good is. There may not be a G8 thats beat you at the track but theres probably been a Miata that has.
Get over you and your high priced toys. The Camaro handles like *****. Even if you shave them smooth, just rub your hand over them. They're still *****.

While we're on it I absolutely hate the current fad of high side windows. The open window driving comfort (not to mention the visibility) on the Camaro, Charger et al are pretty bad.

if i wanted a "Me Too" car i could sell my GTO and get a SS. each car has its good and bad points. IMO the two cars being compared arent even in the same league to be compared to each other. not that one is better then the other. im saying why not compare it the challanger or something or even the '11 mustang, not cars that have engines from '97 and '05.
Isn't the GTO a 13 sec flat or a 12.8+ car? What is the SS 12.6-12.8? They are perfect comparisons imo b/c it's pretty much a drivers race then.
