GTO myths are true

the only interior flaw mine has is where the threads in the top of the rear seats have been torn due to the leather not being treated and it shrunk a little(Im not the origional owner..bought it from vestal Pontiac in Kernersville NC)
oh yeah, how many f**king posts do i need to make before i can post in the classifieds?

On The Tree
Rear main seal leaking slightly and i had a small leak on the rack and pinion which i have heard are both common. Trans-x fixed the power steering leak for now and waiting to do a clutch before i do the rear main seal.

I had the crap suspension and the lock cylinder. The previous owner had the wet rear passenger floor problem, and occasionally, I'd get some dampness. Otherwise, mine held up great with the 40k it had on it when I sold it (I left it 100% stock). Even the rear headrests were still tightly stiched.
EDIT: I also busted the shifter handle on a hard 2-3 shift. It snapped in half, and that's something I never had happen in my Camaros or Mustang.

One more thing, if you have the front busing problem and it wears down the inside of your front tire think twice before going to the dealer about that.
I had a warranty and the car had oh 23k miles on the original tires which were all fine except for the front left so i went in to try and get my bushing replaced.
I was then told that if i come in with a tire in that shape again that they would possibly void my warranty because of abuse.....yep.

What's funny to me is the OP states top 5 GTO problems... then goes on to only list 3. None of which I've experienced.
I'd say 1. strut rub, 2. cylinder lock, 3. power door locks not unlocking all the way, 4. rear seat threads (i've not actually experienced this but i've seen it), 5. shitty weather proofing.

My number one problem is the freaking BCM install & all associated issues.
2) Rear seat center divide up top visible through rear glass.
3) Door handle paint "chipping off".
4) My driver side suede is now starting to "unglue" from the foam backing - however for a GM still better than most with overall wear quality as the front seats still offer support and haven't torn on the side bolsters and my buttons aren't white from the coating rubbing off, so minor complaint when you think big picture of GM lack of quality historicly.
5) Trunk release, surprised no one else posted this yet. White metal rod snapped in half. Still need to fix mine and reaching to rear head rest to pull release is getting old quick.

Personally I think the interior in my goat is nicer than whats in my Dads 08 vette. Interior being ****, lol give me a ******* break. Only **** part that is remotely close to interior is the trunk space.

I've had the phantom horn problem a couple of times. Not really a big deal I think it beeped 4 or 5 times at me in the last year.
As for GTO problems, you could say the most commonly reported problems are the suspension (radius rod bushings, strut mounts, sagging springs and some leaking struts). I would count the other things as more minor, like the stitching coming apart (consmetic) cylinder lock is an issue because you can get stranded, but a new cylinder is $45 and can be replaced in under an hour. The clutch system leaves something to be desired as well. The stock clutch can be weak for some, and the hydrolic system isn't the best off the factory line either, but you have to remember too that a lot of us GTO's are modded and trying to put anywhere in the range of 400rhwp to the ground with a 3800lb car is hard on stock parts. Luckily IMO our aftermarket offers quality parts that (if you do it right) only needs to be replaced once. My two cents
