I really do like the Kooks 3" system that is out now, sort of pricey but really looks and sounds good.

Are you mainly interested in the catback or entire exhaust? As for headers and mid pipes, Kooks all the way.

What catback to get is subjective and depends on how loud you want and the type of sound. I suggest listening to some sound clip videos. Basically, the main options are Magnaflow, SLP, Corsa Sport, Corsa Touring, Spintech, Stainless Works, Borla, Bassani, JBA, Kooks, and Pacesetter.

I've had SLP before and hated them. They drone terribly at highway speed. Made me insane and you couldn't even listen to the stereo. Corsa Sport and Spintech are loud and sort of have a foreign sound to them. Borla are expensive and so are the Kooks, but they are 3" and probably are the top performance catback. Stainless Works are decent sounding, but come with a lot of parts which make them harder to put together and align. More fittings also mean more chances to leak. Pacesetter is cheap, they are not stainless steel, so they will rust. I don't recommend them.

I have Magnaflow and love them. They are a little quieter than the rest, especially at idle. But, at full throttle they wake up and sound a little deeper like the old school muscle cars. A lot of the younger GTO owners don't like them because they think they are too quiet. They fit together and install easily. Personally, I think they're perfect.

Here is a dyno vid, wait until the very end to hear what it sounds like at the tailpipe.

Here I am at the dragstrip running a new Camaro SS. This gives you an idea how it sounds outside.

Dumps after the cats on a 100% bone stock GTO sounds great if your only looking for sound.

I had longtube headers, X pipe, and dynomax mufflers w/ dumps and I got more compliments. My new gto has kooks exhaust and I love the way the old gto sounded...

Yeah, all of the Corsa Sport I've heard in person also had headers. But, to each their own I guess. I've had people tell me mine is too quiet.

I appreciate the feedback, guys.
What I really need to do is hear more in person. I have a couple friends with gtos but not many. Does anyone live in the stl area?

What you might want to do is get your budget together first as that's going to make a huge difference as to what you go after and if you want it loud, unique or you want quiet.

If you want wake the dead loud and cheaper then most exhausts then go after a SLP or Spintech setup. If you want something unique and don't mind spending $9-1,000 then Corsa Sport all the way, or if you want something on the more quiet side and don't mind spending $7-900 then Magnaflow or Basanni is the way to go for you.

I personally love the sound of a Corsa Sport and if you budget allows or you can find something used in the classifieds I would go for it for sure!

Or go with Kooks Afterburners like me.. $399. 15 min install and it sounds great.. Nice deep rumble at idle, sounds like a 69 chevelle with a big block. Screams at WOT.. But I have SLP long tube headers and no cats.. So its probably a lot louder.. The tips are sweet looking..
