Weight Reduction

Weight Reduction
What are some easy ways to cut some weight from my 2006 GTO. I like the stock seats and I don't want to switch them out. I plan on removing the spare. Any other easy weight reductions?

Here's a few things I did on my vette
You can run a lightweight Deka Batterie 20lbs 26AH
verses the stocker at 33lbs
Remove Air pump 3Lbs
Remove Cruise control module
Remove windsheild washer tank and motor 8-10lbs
Delete airbags Drivers & passenger side
Replace OEM steering wheel with a MOMO Style Steering wheel
Replace oem Brake Rotors with Brembo Sport Cross drilled
I removed the A/C unit , I don't know the weight but the compressor & condenser weigh in at atleast 30lbs, And with them out of the way the radiator gets a fresh blast of cool air which for me has meant 192* operating temps during warm weather.
Loose the cast iron exhaust manifolds and get a set of Coated headers and X-pipe will net you another 20lbs
Aluminum pulleys,
Aluminum electric water pump ,
Carbon fiber valve covers,
Add Coilover Shocks
Aluminum Flywheel Save 10lbs over OEM

I thought about removing the brace in the trunk that covers the gas tank but noticed its what holds the carpet in place. I'v done skid plate and spare tire. Carbon fiber hood has done wonders as well. Is there anyway of removing it and still making the carpet stay put? Also do you know how much it roughly weighs?

I removed everything in the trunk, skid plate still got to take off the tow brace.
My carpet stays up even tho I dont have my tank brace in the car.

When u removed it did it feel pretty heavy or was it pointless to remove? 10lbs or less im not even interested is my theory on that bc iv also heard 'rumors' that it helps support the rear from body roll also. Not sure if thats true tho.

It's been out for about two yrs and didn't notice anything different.
The carpet will stay up without it too.

Thats cool.. i appreciate the info.. I think i will have the tank brace out this spring. Probably that tow piece under the rear too.

Well it seems that most of the weight reduction is comming off the back. Is there much weight to be removed from the front of the car, or at least move it from the front to the back. I added about 100 pound to the front of mine when the S/C went on. I am planning to move the battery and the intercooler tank to the trunk. need to get the weight off the nose and over the rear axels.

get rid of those 65lb seats in favor of lightweight racing seats.
I KNOW I KNOW, who would want to do such a thing to those wonderful seats, lol.
Just a suggestion.
Also, if you are brave, you can remove the front crash bar, lol. mine is off. doesnt make it right, i know i know. just a suggestion.
