LOL well my friend you are obviously on a much higher scale in life than the majority of us on this site.
I guess it depends on where you live whether a 600rwhp car is considered "not uncommon". Most of the setups that you mentioned are at least $30,000+ between the price of the car and mods ect. But it sounds like you would consider that cheap or inexpensive. Just because you and your friends can walk lambo's and vipers doesn't mean that kind of car is more common.

I don't think any of those are stupid high numbers. A 35k a year job can achieve that.
Again.. A cam only ls1... We will say 7k for the car, and 3k being extremely nice on a cam only setup... add a decent nitrous kit again being nice for 1k.. you have 11k$ in the car and can achieve 550rwhp.
Bolt ons with a blower cam and a d1sc @ 8-9#s... You're at 575rw or so. Bolt ons 1500$.. used complete d1 kit 4500$
You can easily achieve a reliably 550+rwhp nice street car fbody for 15k, less depending on mod choice and price of vehicle, can also easily be more.
Its not as far fetched as you are thinking.. It is quite as easy as I'm making it out to be.. Just letting you know there are plenty running around, more than I think you think there are.
Also... I have not got to run a lambo yet, walked one bolt on/tuned viper at the track pretty badly and one acr from a low roll.. I think he was caught off guard a little!!

So your Camaro w/ modded suspension, a cam, full exhaust, built tranny, and bigger converter is way faster than your cat-back LS1 GTO?? That's crazy...
Unless your sig is wrong and the cam., trans., and converter part is supposed to say "waiting to be installed".
Gotta love the guys that go by crank HP and then add the advertised HP for every mod they do, lol.

Sounds like you guys just know how to find some extremely awesome deals on nice cars to me. You must do your install work yourself and tuning/retuning because there's a ton of extra cash that comes with what your stating. Nonetheless it sounds like a fun area to live.
And yes, all labor is performed by ourselves.
Tuning.. We get a pretty hot deal on that from a bad *** tuner as well! 100$ a tune is a steal.

Reminds me of a similar experience at a local meet up. I had some losers in a stock 4.6 mustang, prelude with cai and rusty header (hood was propped open with a board), and a stock tiberon, talk **** about how they could smoke my slow v8. Offered to run all three for $100 then and there and they wouldn't. I wish I had a video of it because it was pretty damn funny.
