Default 5.3(4.8) into gto?

I've been doing my research on the 5.3s and 4.8s, and rather than building my LS2 for big boost it seems like one of these motors can handle the power way better for way less money.
Is it possible to make one of these work with our PCM in the LS2 Gtos or am I going to have to go standalone or something like that.
Looking to build a 700-900whp roll race car, hence why I'm looking at these motors, because they can shrug off 900whp like its nothing.
Anyway any advice about how to make these fit, bolt up to the t56, work with the ecu etc... is greatly appreciated

check out the boosted section there are a few GTO on there with small cub motors making good to grate power.
doing a 4.8 build right now in my GTO.
The motors are all the same detentions on the outside. so sticking on in a GTO isn't that hard. Just make shore you get a 05+ motor. they have better rods in them
and the trans will work out just fine, same bell housing bolts

go luck man

Interesting, I didn't know those engines even existed. I did some googling and apparently they can make an ungodly amount of HP w/w turbo(s) and stuff.

Also putting a 5.3 in my GTO for boost. Going to use the 5.3 PCM and Harness.

Youll need the converter box for the reluctor wheel from Lingenfelter (or whoever offers them)

Pretty sure all of the truck motors are a 58x where the GTOs were 24x

Gen 3 truck motors are 24x too, so the gto pcm/wiring should work fine

I have a 5.3 in my 05 GTO....a lot of 5.3s have the 24x crank trigger so it will work fine.
Like mentioned above look for an 05+ for the stronger rods but avoid too new as I believe that is when you will start seeing the 58x trigger wheels although a convertor box can handle that.

Just make sure it has the black crank sensor when hunting for an engine.
04's have an easy swap...05-06 guys have to change the knock sensor mounting and reuse their cam gear and front cover assembly.

now 700rwhp....sure....900rwhp...maybe but not for long....Id look into a forged 6.0 for those power goals.

hey new to forum. Just got my 05 gto and bought with spun bearing. (Assumption haven’t torn down all the way yet). Was thinking about getting a 5.3 lm7 just to put in for the summer while I build the ls2. I read that you have one in yours and looking for info on putting in before I buy the 5.3. I know the reluctors are the same 24 and may need address knock sensor location issue, but is there anything else? Maybe a good list of what all needs to be swapped over, and maybe a good mild cam to put in the 5.3 for a season or two. Thanks in advance for help and info!
