Default Steer wheel controls removal

I have a broken "MODE" button on the steer wheel and want to replace.
Before I start replacing it I wanted to know if there is any special consideration for removing the center steering wheel cover (which contains the air bag).

Does it just "pop off", should the battery be disconnected, etc.

Thanks

Yes disconnect the battery when working around the SRS-air bags. Once the airbag is out it is fairly simple to get the switches out.

Four slots on the back side of the steering wheel, just use your key and release the tabs and the airbag will come off.
