Default 04 GTO fuel rail cover - original paint color code

Hi. First time OP here - hello. I just got a 2004 GTO. The fuel rail covers have some of the paint peeling off, and I'd like to repaint but want to paint it the original color. I can't seem to find on the internet or in forum searches what the original color is called or if there is a paint code for it. I know it's silver in color but really want to match the OEM color.

Thanks!

I have never seen a paint code for GTO engine covers.

Following is a post from LS1GTO back in 2012. Not my post and I can't vouch for it.

"I know a few people have asked in the past about matching the factory silver paint on frc's. I used hyundia bright silver 20000. Perfect match! I mean perfect. I used to mix colors for a living so I know a match when I see one. Not sure if gm sells the silver or not but this color is the same."

Another post from 2010:

"Dupli Color Aluminum engine paint (part number DUP DE1615) is a dead on match for the paint on our engine cover's. I had one with some spill damage and you cannot tell what part I painted, or what's factory. IDK if this has been mentioned before but thought I'd throw it out there."

This^^^^. The match is spot on. FWIW, those engine covers are giant heat insulators. The Holly valve covers look great and have a very cool retro look.

While you're in there, you might want to check the flexible fuel hoses to see if they are getting cut by the cover, which can cause a risk of fire. See this link and others. Sorry to be alarmist - just might be a good thing to check.

I did, and the covers weren't rubbing. I wrapped a bunch of electrical tape over the fuel hoses just to make sure.

Just bought a passenger side engine cover. These things are expensive. Original is peeling, probably due to heat. No idea how long the paint will last and will probably peel again. Bought the car a few weeks ago. Anybody have any idea how long the paint will last? Yes, I know this is an old thread.
