50 miles round trip to work. 11 miles are highway (80 mph average, but once pegged 140 on a decent break in the traffic )
The rest are 30-50 speed zones. If I do not rev the motor, I hit 18.4, high 17's average I'd say. Car now has 1580 miles.

2.5 hour drive, mostly highway, the rest mostly 50-55mph backroads to the track, I averaged 22.7 at 80-85 mph, cruise on. When I got closer to home, and knew when the speed traps were, I knicked it up to 90, and the average eeked up to 23.1.. curious. Before I got on the highway DIC read 25.2, but that was 50-55 mph.

On the track.... well 6 mpg

Default Type of gas?

What gas do you have to use with the GTO? Has anyone looked at how the mileage fares if you can use lower than premium? I am looking into buying an 04 but want to make sure I am not going to be suprised with the EPA figures like I was with my Hemi QC!

Thanks, Mac

After Putting 2,000 Miles On The Car I Decided To Not Reset The Computer For The Next 500 Miles.average Mpg Was 20.4.....thought It Would Be Better. Driving Is Around 75% Highway, 25% Backroads And Very Spirited Driving. I Never Really Expected Great Mileage From This Car. For Me The Fun Factor Is Worth The Cost Of Gas. I've Been Using 92-93 Octane Only, It's About 10 Cents More Than 89 Octane Where I Live.....so I Look At It This Way: 20,000 Miles A Year Divided By 20.4 Mpg Equals About 1,000 Gallons At 10 Cents Difference Is 100 Bucks. Now I Know 100 Bucks Can Still Get Me A Pretty Good Night Out On The Town, But I Can't Help But Believe That The Premium Is Better Spent Money In The Long Haul.

I don't! My 170hp 1994 Oldsmobile 88 Royale LSS gets the same 19-21 MPG in mixed driving and is at an obvious power disadvantage. My 1996 Monte Carlo, being a tad bit more powerful than the Olds with the 3.4L DOHC V6 gets about the same as the Olds.

MY GTO conversely gets about 18-20 MPG in that same amount of mixed driving and has an obvious and significant power advantage.

You won't here any complaints from me.

What IS funny though, is that my heads and cammed Camaro gets better mixed mileage yet! It hovers about 1mpg better than the GTO and is putting down over 70 more rwhp. Go figure! That 300 lbs makes the difference I suppose.
