Either way, it'd be very close, but if you launch well you'll probably be able to take him since both cars have similar performance stock (low 13s). The auto is an advantage in a drag race.

Yeah hell prolly beat you until you hit 60, once you slam into 3rd you should catch up and keep it that way.

Make sure you run the full 1/4, in the 1/8th it will probably be close, with you behind. On the track with a good surface, you would probably have him beat by the 1/8th.

If he knows how to launch that thing, he'll kick the crap out of you. EVO's and WRX / STi's are dangerous off the line if pushed hard. Now if he is just a knucklehead and doesnt know what he's doing and you get him off the line, you have a good shot.

If your friend knows how to drive that EVO you are done for.

When I ran my TA against a stock EVO with a very young looking driver I blew his doors off. He ended up with like a 14.3?. I didnt think they were that fast stock. Hell, my GTO ran a 13.8 with 1000 miles, jack, spare, 1/2 tank of gas and my 260lb *** in it.
Run him and lay a whoopin on him!

Interestingly enough, I considered these 2 cars, which are very different on the surface) as my only 2 choices when looking to buy a new car last year. I love them both.

First of all, the Evos are turbos and for some reason, there is more variance coming off the line, from what I've seen in turbo cars. If the Evo is truely stock and hasn't has any kind of boost pressure increase, a 1320 should be close, depsinding on how badly he wants to abuse a notoriously problematic AWD system and how agressive he is on his shifts.

Problem is that where most imports are weak, (lacking off the line torque) the Evo is strong due to the AWD launch, but where most imports are strong, finishing the 1320 due to the lighter weight, the Evo is weaker, due to it's sedan-like curb weight. I think it'll be a driver's match, alhtough I'd like to see you drop as much weight as you can. Make sure you're running a quarter tank or less of gas, no spare tire/ jack, etc, drop your rear tire pressure a little, practice your power braking launch and fill your buddies head full of broken transfer case horroe stories to get him to ease into his launch. That oughtta give you a shot at taking him down.

I've beat a base WRX not Sti .. close race so the STI and EVO are about equal so I doubt the GTO would win

Fastest I have ever heard or seen of a stock Rex go is 13.9 and an STi is aout 3-4 tenths faster with a GREAT driver......the goat could def handle this

When Evos first came out, they where running 13.3s. This will come down to the driver at the end of this. Turboed cars are hard to launch, but if he has it down, kiss it goodbye.

Unless your on a tire your gto will get owned on the street and probably the track too. That is if the guy can drive. I've had some expirence with awd dsm's and a evo is simialar to a 1g and we all know those cars leave hard even in stock form. Just remember that the 60ft is the most important part of the race.

13.9's is fast for a stock WRX, I'd know I have one in the garage. (though I dont race it, i've owned a few Mustang GT's with it here and there) But STi's are low 13 second cars stock with a good driver. I'd say solid 13.1's with a faptastic sideways 4 wheel spinning launch. The EVO is faster than the STi by a smidge.

i dont see how it could even really be a race..granted he has a mitsu 4G63 engine with a turbo but he is only rated at 271 hp at the crank....he may get a better start since he is AWD but you should win....its a pretty big number gap...u 350hp, him 271 hp...let us know
