Default Trunk question

What is located in the area of the trunk under the rear deck. When I first open the trunk, i was surprised not to see a big area to store stuff on long trips

SO trunk was only place left..

what I never understood is: what happened to the space where original tank goes? if that's where the spare tire now goes. what happened to the space original spare tire goes?

Maybe someone with the aussie version will post a pic of Monaro with trunk open???? I curious too.. my guess is spare tire is laying in trunk under cover in general area where our G-Tank is???

Cool

That space allowed them to install the true dual exhaust system.

I think the new Monaro's now have the gas tank in the trunk also so that they could enjoy the benfit of the true dual exhaust like we did.

Since I have an 04, I rather have the trunk space than having a dual muffler setup. 04s looks (from the rear) like it had single muffler with dual exaust.

Well that's you. I think most of us would rather have the sweet sound of the true duals than a gas tank there. Many Aussie's expressed jealousy with the sound of our cars vs. their Monaro's.

Since mine isn't a daily driver, I could care less about trunk space. It honestly has about the same overall cargo capacity that my F-Body does.

I'm the opposite -- this is my slow, quiet, comfy daily driver car.. If I want to go fast, I have other means I'd prefer a big trunk..

Aside from the gas tank I gutted my trunk and weighed all of the contents and it was 33 lbs I shaved off.
