Went to the local dealer and ask about the optional sport appearance package. The knucklehead salesman who supposedly is the guru on GTO couldn't tell me anything about it. Anyhow! I heard it will add an extra $3K to the sticker if dealer installed Seems a little pricey for body panels!

I do plan to get an 05 without the sport appearance package and hopefully will purchase it later on at dealer cost. Question is how much would I save if I bought, paint and install it at a local body shop rather than the dealer do it?

You'd probably save a good bit, wait till one of the sponsors on the boards gets them (fred beans), you can probably save a bit of money that way as well.

I added the cost of it in on my IBM blue 05 GTO, but I ordered specificly the front, sides and grill inserts. They are charging me dealer cost for those parts which is about half what you were quoted. Though I am not getting the rear, wing or exhaust 'upgrade' with mine.

Package comes pre-painted to specific color. Friend of mine is parts mgr at dealership, dealer cost is around $1750.00.
