Default Price/Value '05 v. new '04 v. used '04

I see used '04s are about $20-$25 and it sounds like new ones can be had for the same price - so I can't imagine why someone would buy used. Do you know any reasons? I don't have a GM Card, but if I sign up for one today, could that help me get a discount?

The '05s are selling for $30-$33ish I guess. I think the improvements are great, but wonder if they're worth $10k? In two or three years, will they still be $10k apart in value on the used market? '04s should be $13-16 and '05s $16-20. In otherwords, it sounds like the '04 leftovers are incredible deals.

Do you think the dealers will have problems moving the '05s as well? I might just wait a few months and see if the '05s can be had for $25k.

How much more do you think an '05 is worth over an '04 (for updates, engine, brakes, etc.)?

If you want to wait for a deal on a '05 get a GM credit card! You really can't be sure there will be as big as rebates but you never know. The GM Card added just over $5000 off the best price I negotiated, $24,190 - $5095. The bulk of the $5000 + was a round up to $2000 + $3000 special incentive on the GTO to GM card members only. My drive off the lot price was $20,535. The best time of the year to buy is late December. I wanted a '05 but I love the '04, a little slow when compared to the '05 but $10,000 in my pocket... need I say any more? If GM does the big discounts again the '04 will take a hit on resale so there may be some good deals to be had on used '04 models. You never know but the real issue is can you wait?

Not sure if I want to wait that long. If I get a card today, will I be entitled to any discounts? Do you have to have a certain amount of points/charges?

You probably won't get any GM card bonuses like that right away, but it will help you out on purchases down the road. The $3K bonus that came in Dec for the 04's was not even offered to all card holders. I have had my GM card for almost 3.5 years, and have received ~$7200 in earnings and bonuses.

Here's my deal today.. Brand new 04 for $27000 out the door then my personal GMAC credit card rebate of $2722.00 for a total of $24,278. Should I buy it?

That's better than the deal I just made - $27k with an 05 hood.

There is more than one type of GM card. To know for sure I'd suggest checking out the web or calling there 800 number. The one I have lets me earn 5% on my purchases up to $500 a year. They always seem to have special deals on certain vechiles. Last December the '04 GTO was one of them.
