Thumbs down went racing on sunday

Long story short.... 13.8 @ 101 on a 2.0 60'

I need nitto's and something to help control/stop the wheel hop. I was shifting too high all day (figured this out after taking a close look at my slips). After a little more seat time i don't think 13.4's will be a problem, maybe .3/.2's with the nitto's. Just need to resolve this wheel hop.

Did they prep KCIR at all or was it a typical "lets not put any effort into the track" type day?

It was prepped, but not that well. It'll get better as the season progresses. There was a SSO 'stang out there that laid down a 7.82....so i guess it was hooking ok.

I'm curious, where were you shifting? What did you change to? How much of a difference did it make? This was something I was wondering about as well.

MPH always sucks at KCIR, I think its up hill........

I might be there this sunday, hoping for 13's at over 100mph with the A4 and a few mods.....

Funny you suggest that... I always thought the same thing. Seeing videos from some tracks, i'm thinking quite a few tracks are downhill. Hmm, speaking of downhill, I used to love to speed down I-70 towards Independence when I was a youngin. I'm suprised I didnt smear myself all over the place considering how stupid that was.

My first time at the track I was wheel hopping so bad I had to let off the gas in first and second. I haven't been back since and don't plan to go until the wheel hop is cured.

So far, I've purchased the SLP sway bar and endlink bushings. This helped ALOT. Then I put Yokohama AVS ES100 275's on the rear. That helped some more.

Now I get a very minor hopp when I slam it into second (or when it rains) I figure cross member bushings should take care of the rest, and then either shocks or springs.

I was shifting around 6200 all day. Don't ask, i was experimenting. Those shift points were getting me 14.2's on 2.1 60'. I shifted between 6000 and 6100 on the 13.8, i also warmed up the tires a LOT, cut a 2.06 60' and ran the 13.8. I'll try a 5900 shift point next time out. I decided these stock tires really do need to be warmed up. I think i'm going to invest in some 16x8 steel rims to mount some nitto's on, and maybe some skinny's for the front for reduced weight.

What all is there as far as bushings/sway bars for the rear to help control the wheel hop? I would say i was losing about .15 to wheel on the 1-2 shift alone. This pig will move once i get a few things worked out.

SLP has a rear swaybar set up with poly bushings as well as poly endlinks. The sway bar can be a PITA if you don't have a lift (you have to drop the differential to make the install easy) BMR has tons of traction mods for the Goat. Prothane has control arm bushings (These are the bushings that get replaced to fix the "thunk in the trunk" TSB.)

Some guys are getting 1.8 60's on the stock suspension, but they're slipping the hell out of the clutch from around 4000 rpms.

I have no problem slipping the clutch high, i just need to find what works. It's not like i'm expecting to get much life out of the stock clutch anyways. Time for suspension mods.
