Default 2005 Midnight Black, 6-speed, red leather interior

Took delivery 1-21-05, this car was one of 100, GM tech study cars for 05 GTO's. Had to be inspected by GMtech at Phillips Pontiac before it was released to me. I monitored this car from unloading from truck, till I drove it home. Fit, finish, assembly, and function are absolutely perfect! Never before have I seen a car, so well put together and finished! I've purchased 48 new cars, including, Porsche, SS Camaro, Corvette, 69 Z28, but never had anything this good! I am the only person who has driven the car, and I suspect, that has a lot to do with it's condition. I suspect most cars get a fair amount of abuse, demo rides, etc. Quality control and general upgrades are vastly different from 04's. They finally fixed the shifter! It's not a short throw, but shifts are precise, positive, and the 2-3 shift is perfect. Praise the lord, no more "Skip Shift" The interior is wonderful, great soft leather, subdued brownish red and rear seats/passenger ammenities are the best! My daughters no longer fight over who sits in front, they both get in back. Phillips Pontiac has to be the the best dealer in California, 48 mo. GMAC smartlease, 2.6% and $400/mo. TGTBT!

Glad you like it, PM me if you'll ever be out in Riverside, I'd like to take a look at it. Any mods planned?

Congrats on the GTO purchase. You picked the exact color combo and tranny that I would want. Any money down on that lease? What mileage limit per year does it have?

How did they get it on the truck then? And for that matter how did it get from the factory to the boat, the boat to the holding area etc as well?
I don't think you were the only one to ever drive it, but hopefully no one else drove it too far.
Congrats on a cool new ride.

Nice choice. You think you will keep it at the end of the lease? If so what mods are planned.

12,000 miles a year, $1630 drive away {includes: DMV, first mo., and security deposite], also, cap reduction. With GM incentives I believe list was $33690 and my cost was $31800.

Congrats on a cool new ride.

Transportation from assembly plant to ship, is subcontracted in Australia, and again when it arrives in Oakland, Ca. It gets trailered to San Pedro, Ca. and there goes through Customs. It then gets trailered to the dealer. When mine was unloaded at Phillips Pontiac, I checked the mileage, and it had 2 miles total on odometer. No demo drives, and no one interested in seeing if it really has 400 H.P. or does good burnouts. When unloaded at Phillips Pontiac, the suspension was locked down with nylon inserts and the brakes and calipers were covered with styrofoam. Whoever drove it 2 mi. did it very carefully and very slowly!

Default 2005 GTO, Midnight Black, Red Leather Interior, Update

Well, Ive had this car for three weeks now, and it just keeps getting better! Before I got the car, I expected to spend $2000 to $3000 to "fix" it. I've put 300 miles on it, and my total modification list is under $600. Don't need new shifter, 05 Vette shifter works great, especially in "Alton Parkwaw Grand Prix", stoplight to stoplight, contests, 1st to 3rd gear, up to about 90 mph. Don't need lowering springs, swaybars, shocks, but I'll probably do urathane bushings on stock swaybars. Don't need anything done to brakes, 05 Vette brakes are Great! Probably, suction out stock brake fluid and put in Motul 600 Dot4, just to firm up pedal feel. Don't need new wheels or tires, stock works just fine. When I wear out stock tires, which are excellent "all weather" tires, I'll replace with Nitto 555R's DOT race tires, 245-45-17. Oh yes, When some one makes a cold air intake for 05's and Flowmaster gets done with their 3in. diameter catback, those will go on as well, too much hp/Torque is never enough! So far averaging 17 mpg.Ordered BMR strut tower brace [red powder coat], Thunder Racing's Gorilla chrome lug nuts & wheel locks, and CarMotorsports 5 spoke wheel graphics kit and GTO rocker panel decals. Thats all, and I'll be finished with the car! So far, on Alton Pkwy my victims include:all 04 Vettes, all EVO's, WRX STI's, All Mustangs, new 05 Saleen included, all Mercedes Benz, BMW, Lexus, Infinity, Acura, and Chrysler SRT-8. This car runs pretty close to my brother's 03 Z06 vette, up to 90!!! Anyway, I love this 05 Goat!

Welcome to the site.

Sounds like no one in your area has never heard of modding their cars. '03+ cobras are tough enough stock. Modded ones become street murderers.

Default 2005 GTO, Midnight Black, Red Leather Interior, further update

On 1-21-05, I got this new GTO, and on 2-3-05, a woman in a Toyota Camry, did a" no look", 2 lane sweep across and into my new GTO. Her rear wheel, hit my front wheel. She told the police, "I don't know what happened" She'll later revise that statement, and say that I turned into her. Since there are no witnesses, we will get equal credit for the accident. That's the same as full credit, so my insurance will be going way up! My car will cost $2000 to fix, and and I'll pay $500 deductable. I'll have to pay about $300-500, for a car rental, while my car is being fixed. That's all part of driving in southern California, where people" assume right of way", and always cut in front of you! If they percieve your car is better than their's, cutting you off, will put them up on you and soothe their ego. So, 2 years of increased insurance rates, $500 deductable, and $500 for car rental, comes to about $3000 for the privelege of driving a new GTO in So. Cal. You can bypass this" yuppie mentality", by driving a 15 year old Ford F-150 white work truck, never wash it, and drive with the truck bed full of empty "Bud Light" cans. After my car gets fixed I don't think I'll be doing any wheels/tires, or other mods any time soon!
