Yes, 04 LS1 GTO cam the same as the later F-Body LS1 camshaft.

The 05 LS2 camshaft is the same as the 2001 LS6

I'd say production tolerance. I didn't have too many miles when I pulled the cam out. No visable wear at all

Will an '05 GTO cam fit in an '01 LS1 motor. What year did the CPS move from rear to front of the camshaft?
Thanks,
Mike

Default cam sensor

Hey guys , how's it going ? I know the 2005 ls2 is the first engine/year that the cam sensor was in the front , and I believe the 2007 4.8/5.3/6.0 is when they changed but I don't know about the ls1 .

In the logn run youd be better off wallet wise to get a cam spec'd that fits without having to change to the LS2 setup. Hell cams are decently priced for them, and you can probably find a great used one on the classifieds here and save some $$$. Im just gonna throw the Hot Cam kit in the Goat for some sound.
