GTO Delivery time, Dealer quoted 4+ months
I had my dealer order a GTO for me in late March. They told me that it probably would not get in until August. How much truth is there to that? Does anyone have delivery times for their GTO's?
I know Australia is a long way away, but wow.

If they ordered it IN March, yea I can see 3-4 months delivery time. I first ordered mine in September and it came with the first boat of cars in January. Keep in mind, they will generaly make only one trip every time they have enough to send, perhaps every couple months.
Personaly, if you want one now, check other dealerships. I can almost gaurantee their is a dealership that has one on the lot somewhere at least remotely near you.

It's pretty accurate!
Even though you may have ordered that particular car, that dealership was already allocated it. Once you ordered, it got put into GM's system, it will now be put into que for production, production could be a few weeks out, it takes about two days overall to build the car from the the first bolt until it's QC'd, it is then put into a staging yard in awaiting to be loaded on a cargo ship, once loaded, cargo ships aren't known for breaking any water speed records, it then gets to Benecia California where it could sit for a little while, has the spoiler mounted, is QC'd again, then loaded on the appropriate form of transportation (rail, truck), then sent out. Then there is transit time involved there. If by rail, that is slower, then it has to be off loaded to a truck at some point then trucked to the final dealer destination.
It's not like ordering a BK burger your way and they make it right then and there once your order is placed!
4 months is quick by comparison to what some of us original orderers had to wait for. I ordered my original GTO August 7th 2003, I think it made it to Sewell Pontiac in Dallas sometime in June 2004. That's 10 freaking months! I had went and found one already on the ground by January '04!

Since the options aren't exactly vast on GTO's I'd get one off the lot. I've always wanted to special order a car, but they are more likely to deal on one that's in stock, and you can have it right away. Again theres no reason to special order one when you can just shop around for what you want.
They are all practically the same. 2 rim choices, choice of colors and hood scoop delete are the only options those things have.
The dealer I went to didn't have any six speed black or silver cars in stock, but they said they could trade one of their cars to another dealer for what I wanted.

Yea, I'm sure enough '05's have hit the ground to where you can have them search and get the car.
You have three options;
1) Exterior Color
2) Interior Color
3) Transmission Choice
Granted, they may do certain colors in a "run", you may have to order. But the more common ones should have the three choice combo you want already here. Even Cyclone Grey and Midnight Blue are already here.

I'd like to know about the wheels and hood scoop delete options also. Sounds to me like that is a dealer installed set of options, NOT a RPO based manufacturer option that one would place when ordering from GM.

well, I just bought one that the guy had on the lot. The reason that I didnt get the one that he had in the first place is because it had the $6k appearance package on it and they would not take it off. Well after a lot of considering on my part and a prince reduction on their part, I got it an m6 black w/red interior and appearance package for $35k. So far so good, just hope I can get past the break in period without taking it too hard on the car.
Thanks guys

yeah, it is a package that includes different front and rear fascias, grill inserts, larger wing, exhaust tips, fancier side rockers and I believe that is it. Normal price for this is $6000. It is outrageous if you pay full price for it.

Ok, I did a little research on the RPO's
RPO BZJ = 7 cars total out of the total 2005 production to get them. They are as follows;
Order # HZDDTR
Event code: 3000
MBM A4
Greiner B-P-GMC
Victorville,CA
Order # HZZDNX
Event code : 3100
Torrid/Blk M6
Ziemer B-P-GMC
New Holland, PA
Order # HVMGWR
Event code : 3550
QS/Blk M6
McNamara Pontiac
Orlando, FL
Order # HXTC1M
Event code : 3000
MBM M6
McNamara Pontiac
Orlando, FL
Order # HTCS58
Event code : 3550
Cyclone M6
Pitre B-P-GMC
Albuquerque, NM
Order # HTCS6B
Event code : 3550
QS/Blk M6
Pitre B-P-GMC
Albuquerque, NM
Order # HWWJJN
Event code : 3450
Cyclone A4
Lloyd Pontiac
Panama City, FL
RPO N87 which will then automatically pull RPO QUG has been delayed due to parts availability. There are a few more of them than the 7 hood scoop delete cars, but my guess is that it will be also fairly rare. On a side note, any orders for an '05 had to be in by 3/31/05.
So I will stand by my original comment that there are only 3 options you really need to be concerned with.
Anything else?
