I vote for the GTO because it is a better automobile with a newer motor.
I own an LS1 Z28 that has many passes at the local 1/8-mile track. It has a Yank SS3600, 16’ Nittos, cat-back; air lid and FT ram air. I also have 5177 NOS and some small 60-horse jets because if you run under 7.5 a roll cage is required. It runs 8.2-8.3 without the bottle at 84-85. This car would only run 9.0 at 80 when stock.
I also own a ’05 M6 GTO and after a very easy long break in I took it to fun night at the track. I managed a best of 8.5 at 86. That is half a second and 6 mph faster than the Z28 stock.
My brother has always been a Pontiac Firebird owner and he has a ‘02 Firehawk. It is also just the way it came (no mods).
We raced 3 times from a roll in first gear (his request). I could just barely pull him in first and second but in third I pulled over 2 cars on him. We let off at just over the century mark each time with the GTO pulling away fairly hard.
I don’t mean to make anyone mad but these are just my experiences.

 

i would get the firehawk, very rare car and now and so far, permanently, an extinct model, and way sexier, and if its slower, well thats just an excuse to mod the s&*^ out of it!!!
