Default 12s for me

Hello everyone, I am a newb, so please be easy on me. Anyway, in january I began to get the bug for another muscle car. I gave up racing when I lost my father in 2003. I've had 4 mustangs, and most ran low thirteens and 1 in the twelves. I also had a LT1 trans am with a 100 shot and an 11 second GN, which i sold in 2003. in fedruary i bought an 05 GTO M6. I heard nothing but negative feed back on this car from all sorts of forums, but me being the against the grain type of person, decided to try it. well, once i got 1800 miles on the car i went to Atco, which was last tuesday. The car is completely stock and i ran three consecutive 13.08 at 108, with a 200 sixty foot. So i knew This was a 12 second car, so i ordered a set of Nitto drags, droped in a K&N and removed the Y bar in the rear. This is what my time slip looks like.

60'.....1.932
330....5.40
1/8....8.248
MPH...86.86
1000..10.680
1/4....12.740
MPH...109.83[/B]I'm sorry for the long post, but i'm tired of people who see GTOs at the track, with inadequate drivers, telling everyone these cars are slow, when such is not the case. This car is by far the best car i've owned and i have owned a lot of high line cars. I have the time slips and it is on video, but i don't have a scanner, or do i know how to up load video, but if i have to i will figure it out.

Sweet!

Nah...you must be mistaken. GTO's aren't any good. Read any car magazine, they'll set you straight!

Must be nice to have that sort of traction, as well as some skills at the track! Atco seems to be the place for fast GTO's. Brent was running his 10.x 1/4's last year, and SHOCKING people. GTO + rear mount turbo...say it ain't so!

I like my GTO just fine. The driver isn't too shabby either....for an old guy.

Got to love sea level racing at it's best!

Nice driving and tuning too. This is not a punch it and go car due to suspension and software.

My '05 M6 ran 13.2 @ 107 at Norwalk with 5K miles and crappy stock tires.

Thanks for the replies guys, I am going to add long tube headers, tune and exhaust. Hopefully I should run 12.4s at around 111-112

Great post! People can say what they will about the looks of the car, but saying it's slow is simply being misinformed. Regardless of the countless posted timeslips from all over the country, the ignorant still think it's slower than all other modern muscle. Guess it just takes a while to educate so many people with so few cars.

Expect lots of skepticism.

The temperature was 82 during the day, but droped to 71, once the sun went down. people kept asking what i had done to the car and just told them tires and K&N. as i spoke to different people, some did not know about putting ice on the intake to cool the car off, or just open the hood to allow it to cool off. I got to the track half hour before they opened and let the car cool off, i also took the GTO covers off, becasue they seem to trap a lot of heat. I did put them back on when i left, but it sems i have a good running car to begin with.
