Default What should a stock 04 GTO 6 speed run?

So I posted this in another forum, and someone informed me that F-Body fans might start an arguement, so I should post this in this forum instead... I just bought an 04 GTO M6, wondering what they run in stock form... My guess would be 13.5-13.6 in the 1/4, and 4.8-5.0 in 0-60 MPH? My car has Corsa exhaust and a K&N filter if that helps... thanks for any input!

Typical is around 13.7-13.9@101-103.

Depending on weather, track conditions, and driver, anywhere from 13.1 on up. With mods, anything is game.

13.1 up, I like the sound of that! So can a 04 GTO take a WS6 or Camaro SS? Or is that a drivers race?

That(low 13's) is NOT the norm. ls1 jeff is right on the money. It took me half a dozen tries to finally break the 14.0 barrier. I had to get modding to take it down from 13.9 to 13.5. A well driven WS6 or SS will take you. The GTO is heavier and has IRS.

It took 4 trips to the track to get my 13.2. My very first pass was a wheel hopping 13.6. Took awhile to figure out how to launch so the tires stayed planted and no hopping. My MPH didn't change at all between the 13.6 to the 13.2 run. My short times went from 2.0 to 1.9, which isn't much, but I could stay into it in 1st and 2nd gear. That's where the difference was.

Running against a stock F-Body, is there such a thing?, would be a driver's race for the most part. The difference in weight is negated by the gear ratios of the goat, M6 of course.

Cool. I just raced for the first time last night, against a brand new white Mustang GT, he didnt even have his plates yet. 1st gear seemed close, i only pulled by about 3 feet, 2nd gear it was all over, my rear was at his front by the time we let off...and we let off because of a red light.

I have a slower 04 A4 auto,, first time at track my best was 13.8@100 with a 2.0 60ft ,it was 90deg and 85% humidity. Second time at track everything was the same (temp, humidity, tires, ect) except I had added a predator handheld tuner and had installed the tune it brings mainly to get rid of the torque management that slows down the automatics, ran 13.4@103 with a 1.8 60ft

13.1 in a BONE STOCK GTO? You are probably the best driver in the world! Also the gearing(mn12) in the GTO does not make up for the weight advantage that the f-body has. Ive seen many GTO's at the strip and not one stock M6 '04 has come remotely close to 13.1. The highest ive seen them trap is 103. Your average stock M6 f-body will run 13.3-13.5 and trap 107-108 for comparison sake.

Get to the track Monte and get some seat time in. Ive never taken a GTO down the strip, but from what people tell me its a tricky car to launch. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Feather the clutch out of the hole and you'll be fine; otherwise you'll wheel hop like a jack rabbit. A few practice runs and you should be in the 13.5-13.8 range.

my cousin's '04 m6 bogs a little when he hits third (not alot, but he does lose a little acceleration). so i don't see how the gearing will save the gto. my cousin has never beaten me, and he supposedly has a little more hp than a stock gto (thats what the dealership said because it had a different exhaust when he bought it, but who knows for sure).

I didn't do it in mine, although with another trip or two to the track, probably would have. There are a few that have done it.

Gearing in the goat is like a 3.90 geared F-Body. I know I gained .3 sec when I went to 4.10 gears in my WS6. So easily figure about .2 sec.

The quick '04's were trapping 104-105.

You should post up in the NW section. There's a bunch of guys going on the 23rd for the final CCC race. NW F-body is looking for new people to run with them and there is supposed to be at least one first timer showing that day, so you wouldn't be alone.

Also, come say Hi in the NW section of ls1gto as well.

I would if I could. Unfortunately my car is in the shop (hit a deer) and won't be back on the street for a few weeks.
