Good run, our cars are hard to launch so for it being your first time you did pretty good.

Good run for your first time with a 6spd car, especially being the GTO. There is art to getting the car to launch hard without spinning and wheel hopping. Practice your launch technique and you will improve on those 60ft times. Need to make a quick controlled release of the clutch pedal, not dumping the clutch. Try to hold a steady rpm on the launch and when you feel the car launch and get rolling, then go full throttle. Some drag radials will make everything much easier and consistant.

The times in my sig are with a bone stock 05 6spd car on Nitto DRs with a raceweight of 4040lbs.

that's pretty close to my first day at the track, 13.8x at 105 ish

let some air out of the tires (18-20psi) and do a big 2nd gear burnout (in the water)

you will see those 60' times come down along with the ET;s

I decided to skip the 12's

so far this offseason, Cam, LT Headers, Tune, and currently getting a wet plate nitrous kit

next is a set of tires, maybe a set of drag bags too.

followed by some new drivetrain parts (driveshaft, clutch, rear end cover, ect...)

Don't air down stock tires. Best to keep them pumped up to 32-33psi or so. Lowering will only cup the tires and you'll end up loosing contact patch. Do a burnout on the street and look at it. I bet it'll be just the outline of the tire.

And don't do a burnout with the stock tires either. You just want to spin them to get them clean. A burnout will not make them stickier but will make them greasy. And stay out of the water, you'll just bring water up to the line and nobody will like you for that!

I hope you were kidding with that advice....

Damn where were all of you nice guys when I got killed in another thread for running a 13.9 witha 2.25 60 ft my first time at the track ( m6 ). These cars take alittle time to get used too. My second time out I dropped 7 tenths with no changes to the car just by the additional driving i did in the 2 weeks between track outings. 13.2@106 2.02 60 ft on stock tires. I think with more seat time the times will only improve more. So far i have 5 passes total on the car and 1,600 miles on the odometer.

I was getting mid 1.8 on the stock BFG's.

Its been the same with the last 3 cars I've owned. All in the 1.8x with stock tires. 2 M6 cars and 1 A4 car. It works. Got the goat down to 13.2 stock before I started modding it. Would have probably gotten down to 13.1x if I kept trying stock.

The general idea: practice, practice, practice

keep it up you be in the low to mid 13's on your next outing to the drags

Good luck,

AL

Damn keep working on it.. I had a stock 05 I ran a 12.9@ 106, I cut a 1.8 60ft on my second trip to the track..

That was my 1 and only perfect run.. My avg was 13.2/13.3

Don't air out your tires! I aired mine out to 26psi and couldn't run anything faster then a 13.7.. I put the air back in and ran 2 more times, 13.0/13.3

I was on 18's tho not sure if that makes that much difference..

good luck buddy, with enough practice you could see 12's...my second time out with the goat i managed a 12.95 @ 108.8 on the stock 18's...and of course that was after a big burnout! and i did it all on a 2.015 60'
