I wanted to know how the stock audio system is in these cars. Do they have a good balance of treble and bass? Do they rattle the door panels and sound like s***?

The balance is fine, but you'll want to change the head unit for sure. The stock head unit doesn't even come close to making the most of the stock speakers. There's no rattling in the GTOs. They're build well. Once you have a good head unit your weak point will be the stock subs. They'll do the job for most people, but if you are serious about bass you'll need to replace them.

Their okay. Not the best but certainly not the worst stocker system. You can adjust the amp in the trunk to get more gain. That will help a bunch.

Yep, what the other guys said. I don't like it, and even though I always play music in my car, my main music is the sound of my car Cutouts = very fun.

Well, I'm not into bass as far as hearing me two blocks away, but I do like a little umphh. Just mainly clarity, but not all treble.

The stock speakers are pure crap. Actually, the head unit is ok in my opinion. I still have the stock HU, but I replaced all the speakers and powered them with a couple external amps. It's a world of difference.

The HU is fine... it's more of the stock speakers being crap than anything. I expected more from the stock audio system, but oh well.

it all depends on what you "expect"

I feel that the stereo is pretty damn good for a "stock" stereo,
but anyone who has ever built real sound systems won't be happy.
and it's a pain in the *** to upgrade and replace, with the factory amps and such.
