Default New 2006 Torrid Red MS GTO

I have to say that the GTO is very nicely built car.

This is coming from a guy that hated GM for killing off the F-Body. Then I hated the GTO. LOL!

Anyhow...

I traded in my very well maintained and nicely modded 2001 Trans Am WS6 for a 2006 GTO last Friday.

After 300 miles with it I have to say it is a very nice car.

It has a high build qulaity that reminds me of an Audi. And being that I have worked in IT for Audi for 6 years and have many experiences in their cars.

It is not the WS6 and lacks the cornering power I had in the WS6 but it is a different car as well.

I know you all are saying "Dah! That is what we have been saying". I am just glad I traded for it.

Anyhow, I felt I owed my confession to the GTO area since I used to be a 'hater'.

Jack, wasn't your WS6 modified? When was the last time you drove a bone-stock F-body? I guarantee you the GTO handles better than a stock f-body when both are on stock tires. My '02 Firehawk is 100% stock and feels like a floating barge compared to the GTO, it definitely has more body roll than the GTO does.

If you don't like the cornering, get yourself a nice set of $300 sway bars from Hotchkiss, you won't be wrong

LOL

Yeah, the suspension was nicely beefed up on the WS6.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the GTO. I guess I am a bit surprised because I never thought I would own one.

Thanks, I am going to enjoy the stock ride for awhile. Then I will look into those Hotchkis.

I have raced a 2004 with some mods and a M6 05' GTO so I know they have some pull.

Sorry to say that you gave up a shitload of sex appeal when you got rid of the WS6 chick car, but congratulations on buying a much better street car. My 2002 f-body has hardly been driven ever since I bought my GTO. That's how much good ergonomics and a high quality interior can overshadow a car with much higher sex appeal.

GTO= interior sex appeal, not outside. hahah

Congrats, man. I hate the handling of the GTO

Congrats on the GTO purchase. I got rid of my CETA last month to get my wife a Yukon, now I'm getting the GTO itch. I know they can hold a carseat well. lol

I had a 98 TA on the stock 16s, no suspension mods other than the usual hookemup dragracing parts. I just got an 06 GTO with 18s...the GTO blows it away as far as handling goes. I never cared about handling before, now I'm always looking forward to the on ramps.

They're nice cars, totally different than the f-car, which is why I kept mine when I got the GTO.

I never planned on owning one, but am very glad I do.
