Default looking into wheels, is this a safe choice?

Looking at getting some 18's for the gto. After reading some, I am going to try and find an 18x8.5'' wheel, but what is the best offset to get? The car is a daily driver and I don't want any issues with rubbing. I've read that 18's may actually help the strut rub, is that true? Any input is appreciated!

What about if I'm looking to get the same size wheel all the way around, what would work best?

A 40mm offset will work fine for a 8.5" all around IMO.

it might, it might not...depending on tire selection (specifically, the shape of the shoulder) an 8.5" rim with a 40 offset MIGHT rub.

8.5 might be risky. I have 18 x 8 w/ 40 mm offset and 245 40 18 tires. I get some slight rubbing on hard launch on my pass side rear. Each car is different really.

I Put Yokahama 275/40/17 Rear 245/45/17 Front With 17x8 F&r Tsw Wheels. Rear Rubbed Bad Under Accelleration And Hard Turning, So I Placed 245/45/17 On Rear And No Problems.
