285/35/18
I need to get new rear tires. I usually run 275/35/18 BFG DR's, though I'm tired of having to replace them ever 4-6k miles. I'm now wanting to run some Nitto 555R's, but from what I see they only come in 285/35/18's. The BFG's are 10.9" wide and the Nittos are 11.2-3" wide. Though I'm not sure if the Nittos will fit. My wheels are 18x9.5 with a 45mm offset.
I have grinded off my fender lip and added Pedders 5/16" raise springs. I did have some slight rubbing with the BFG's with 4 people in the car... but that was befor I fully took off the fender lip (I still had 3-4/16 of an inch left when the tires rubbed with 4 people... I grinding it down so it was all gone on Fri).
So my question is do you all think the 285/35/18 Nitto 555R would fit or not?

mine fit on some beyern wheels, not sure of the offset they where on the car when I bought it. My fender lips have been cut/ground. I get no rub with stock springs and bags with about 15-20 psi. Mine can fully tuck up in the fenders with no rub.

They'll work since you've taken care of the fenders. I put them on my Beyern 5's and they rubbed once (had to roll a little more of the fender than I did with the 19's and 275 Toyos). And I'm running all stock susp. still as well. So with the Pedders springs I would def. think you'd be fine. Oh, and the beyern's are 45mm as well.

Alright I think I'll have to give them a try. I usually didn't drive the car much when I first got it but since it's now my only vehicle I gotta drive it all the time. Getting 4-5k out of the BFG's is a lot of money, I should be able to get double that out of the Nittos. I'm not a fan of the Nittos since they suck when cold and they don't grip as good as the BFG's. Though for daily driving they will work fine... for the track I'll put some 275 MT ET's on my stock 17's.

Alrighty, I was alittle worried at first. I went with 285/35/18 Goodyear GS-D3's in the rear. So far so good, no rubbing at all, even with smashing the gas off the line, from a roll, etc.
Of course there was some work to get this to work. Fenders were grinded down all the way. I had my wheels shaved 3mm's, they were 45 and are now 48. Pedders 5/16" drag springs, x-member bushings and hotchkis sway bars were also used to help squat (even though I doubt the bushings and sway bar helped that much). Also the I had my cradles aligned and Pedder alignment specs put on the car. Wheels are Ruff Racing 278's, I'll see if I can get pics later.
