Should be able to get 1/4 under 14 some stock a4 have seen as low as 12.9. Depends on Driver and Traction issues. Type in 2004 GTO SPECs in Google and you will find all you need. Or check over at LS1GTO.com

I have a '04 A4. Bone stock they average low 14's/high 13's. Torque management and heat soak is killer on these GTO A4's. On a cool night trap speeds range from 99-103. The best stock time I've seen from a LS1 GTO A4 is 13.5 at 103. The LS1 GTO A4 has 350 hp 365 lb/ft and they average from 280-300 rwhp stock.

Absolutely no chance against your Cobra.

The best I ran this year with my almost stock '04 A4 was 13.8 and 102. I had a ls1speed CAI and Toyo Proxie T1S tires and Drag Bags. My 60 ft were around 2.1 with 30 psi in the drag bags. Around 2.25 with no drag bags.

I have gone up against three '03 cobras this year and won all three. Obviously the drivers weren't getting the most from their vehicles.

On the dyno, probably around 290ish at the wheels.

Fastest bone stock time I've seen for a '04 A4 was 13.4. Took a few trips to get there but still the fastest. That car has since gone 11's. Most A4 cars ran high 13's. Torque Manangement was terrible in those cars. You could literally pick up .5 second with just a tune.

In your opinion what would be a good car to race for the GTO?

Anything

Stock vs stock, LS1 F-Body's would be a pretty good match up. Comes down to driver for the most part.

Good race for a stock '04 A4 GTO:

LT1's
SVT Lightning
350Z 6-speeds
Dodge ****
'98 Cobra
LS3 Impala, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix
etc..;.

Any car that can run low 14's/high 13's would be a decent matchup for a stock '04 A4 GTO. The GTO A4's struggle with torque management and heat soak so they struggle to get out of the low 14's on the average. They're capable of mid 13's in the right conditions though.

I remember when my '04 A4 GTO was stock I raced my co-worker's stock S2000 and it was surprisingly very close up to my GTO hit "3rd" gear then I started gradually pulling away. The S2000's are low 14/high 13 sec cars so I got an idea of where my GTO might stand before I started modding.

I now have a custom diablosport tune/K&N CAI. She feels like a different animal now!!

Actually considering the LS1 F-bods average mid to low 13's trapping at 105+ on a good night a stock '04 A4 GTO wouldn't have enough to keep up. The LS1 GTO A4 is more of a good race for a well driven LT1 6-speed. Just speaking from experience.

Throw a torque converter in that thing and hit mid 13's. Then add a cam and tune.

IM RUNNING 12.0s WITH A FUDDLE 3600, STS TURBO KIT @ 5.5PSI, STS TUNE, STOCK WHEELS WITH DRs, AND I HAD SOME WHEEL HOP. SO I ADDED SOME DRAG BAGS, DRAGLITES FRONT AND REAR, AND ADDED 3 PSI AND METH. KIT. SO IT WILL BE INTERESTING.

Our bone stock '04 GTO A4 ran a best of 13.4 @ 103 MPH. That was 100% stock in good weather at Rockingham Dragway in NC. That track is about 800 feet above sea level I think, but I could be wrong.

As was said earlier in this thread, it's all about the torque management and heat soak. I took the car to the strip stock and it ran like a 14.4 @ 96mph.

Bought a DiabloSport programmer for $160 through a thread on ls1gto.com, put the Diablo tune on it and it ran better. Then found some guys that had actually dyno tuned their Diablo tune and they gave me their settings for a basically stock GTO and the difference between stock and now is night and day. Took the car back out with LM2 catback, p&p throttle body(by me), tb bypass, re-worked stock air box and the car ran a 13.7 @103mph. So now I wanted to know how much was some of the basic mods and how much was the tune, so I put the stock tune back on and it ran a 14.3 @97mph, back to the Diablo tune and a 13.8@ 102mph. All of this on the same night and pretty much back to back runs!!!

The above was all was done last year, the car has stayed in the 13.7 range @ 103mph this year with the same mods listed above. Well about 2 weeks ago I was at the strip with some friends from work and decided to put a tune on my friends 04 Z06. So of course the GTO had the stock tune on it again, ran it through the 1/4 and what do you know a 14.3 @ 97. Later in the night put the tune back on the GTO and surprise, surprise a 13.7 @ 102mph!!!

I know their are people that don't like the handhelds. Mostly when the mods get more serious the handhelds aren't considered to be flexible enough to properly tune for headers or a cam or other serious mods. But for close to stock (especially A4) GTO's I think the DiabloSport is BY FAR the BEST money that can be spent on these cars!!! And whatever you do, don't buy a new one for $399. They are on ls1gto.com forums for $225 any day of the week and are often available for less than $200.

Here is an awful video of the last time the GTO ran. Also a video of the Z06 losing to my 96 Cobra Vert. He was having a hard time hooking up on this run, which is the only reason I won. The Cobra did run a 12.90 for the 1st time on this run however!!

Bone stock ran a 13.6 with a 2.2 60 ft at 104 MPH. With more practice time before taking the car to the track I'm sure it would have been better.

It dyno'd 331 RWHP
325 Ft. Lbs
