is it a 5.7 or the 6.0. even if its the 6.0 it is one of the it can still only beat the average car, the gto is one of the heaviest vehicles that gm makes so that makes it one of the slowist. although the gto is hot among the ricer croud, it is still one of gms slowist vehicles.

^^^^Don't listen to that noise. Even w/our cars being heavy as they are they do turn in a very respectable stock 0-60 time of 4.8-5.2 depending on year. Nothing some mods can't take care of. It's got plenty of snort stock.

I had a 1.8 60ft on that run. And that was going off of idle. I haven't had a chance to launch in at the track but I know if I brake stall this thing I can get a 1.6-1.7 60 ft that will put me in the high 11's or bottom 12's.

I personally just got my 1st chance to drive a 6.0 GTO the other day and they are really impressive cars, alittle different than my camaro but still 3rd gear rubber can be achived with ease. When i was looking for an SS i also came across a 5.7 GTO which ran strong 0-60 but started to lag shortly after. I have seen 6.0 GTO's run 12's at the track with exhaust only and i have seen stock 5.7 GTO's struggle to break 13's. Both seem to have traction problems after bolt ons are added.

I will give a short run down on how i lauch at the track but until you practice at the track you will not know the right way for you to do it. First off your burnout is critical to your launch. I always power break it in the water box and smoke them out of the box. Pull up till your 1st set of lights come on then stop. SLOWLY inch forward until the 2nd set lights up. Then i rev it to roughly 2500-2600 with the clutch in all the way. When the last yellow lights up before the green is when you want to start your launch. Alot of people side step the clutch, which will give you better times if you hook up but i dont recomend for a dd. This all has to happen really fast but i will try to break it down. With your car still reved to 25 start to let of the clutch until it bogs, when it starts to bog, gag the gas and drop the rest of the clutch. This tech works extreemly well for me, and i can usually beat faster cars because of the reaction times i pull (constant .50-.54's). The driver mod really works at the track and will give you the edge on a faster car with an average driver.
