Best Drag Rim/Tire Combo for 10-11 sec GTOs?
Well, my 275 Nitto NT555Rs are just not going to cut it. Much moreso since I've just begun my next phase for 525rwhp....
I have a stock IRS and need some constructive suggestions there too.
So, will all the 11 and unders help with some of what works:
Rims (drag only)
Tires (drag only)
rear suspension changes (must work on street)
Thank you!

For wheels the only way to go is prostars with a set of good rubber I'm talking like hoosier slicks, Mickey thompson slicks or et streets the bias ply. For your drivetrain you will want to look at a stub to hub system ( good for 800rwhp) a one peice drive shaft and a differential cover. Take a look into some drag springs to help reduce wheelhop even more.

I personally wouldnt go with prostars, you'll have to grind your front calipers down a little to clear. I would go with Bogarts and have them custom fit. They will make you anything you want and need for our goats to ensure a perfect fit. They are a little pricey, but whats the point putting all the money in your car, and your weak point be your wheel and tire setup? Heres the link:

I've got holeshot wheels, 15x8 with a 6 7/8 backspacing and use a 235/60x15 mt et street radials no rubbing at all. A lot of the guys use the 15x9. I tried the prostars but didn't like the way they stuck out of the fender. I'm cutting mid 1.60 60ft. with this combo. No suspension mods.

Stock wheels w/ mickey thompson ET Street bias plys 26x11.5. I made 6 passes with my car with the radial version and couldnt keep it form wheel hopping like crazy so i switched to the bias plys and haven't had a problem. I run about 15-17lbs of pressure in them depending on the track.
I have pedders 5/16" raised springs, big bore shocks, all bushings done, harrop cover, stub to hub and one piece ds. I twisted my axle and snapped my main shaft in the tranny so i figured i would replace those while i had the trans out, so if yours are ok you will be fine on the stock ds and axles til they break.
I would pull the axles out and check them for a twist, if they break in the diff they are impossible to get out with out taking it all apart and pulling the gears. I caught mine before it broke.
Some recomend the GSR shocks instead of the big bores for drag racing as they are a little softer. You could also try koni's as i think they have an adjustable shock that fits. I am happy with what i have though. Also un hook your front sway bar when you go to the track, it will allow the front end up more.
Hope that helps, just a few suggestions.

^^^ Anthony hit the nail on the head! 26x11.5x17" ET Streets (you're welcome Bro)
If you want Pro Stars go for it. They are slightly cheaper and fit fine on an '04. I have a pair of front runners that I have been using all season without issue. No grinding, no rubbing, just bolt on and go. I will be getting either 15x8 or 15x10's for next season for the rear with a New pair of MT ET Streets.
I have mostly stock driveline except for a Spec 3 clutch and 3.91 gears. I have 20 passes this season with the slicks and probably 15 of those are sub 1.69 short times..... the stock parts are strong with the right rubber out back (sure I am on borrowed time, but "knowing is half the battle" LoL)
Wrinkle much? Notice the Weld Drag Lites on the rear of the 2004 Barbados GTO I am racing..... BTW- the pic below is from ly 11.29 pass!

You are correct. Todd is running just drag bags. I have big bore (stiffer) rear shocks and 5/16" raised springs and no bags because they dont fit in the raised springs haha. I have a set for sale if anyone wants them though!! The 11.5" tire fits fine on the stock rims, i will try to get a pic of the contact patch as the tires are off the car and it is easy to see how much of the tread bites the ground.

Yes, that is correct. Just drag bags as well. The tires don't rub even without air in the bags unless I launch the car. Then when at the track I have run from 16-22psi in the bags and have rubbed the plastic "shroud" in the wheel well from squatting. More air in the bags next time will help but my future plans are 5/16" drag springs with drag bags and Pedders GSR shocks!
I will soon have a pair of 15x8 Pro Stars with MT ET Drags 26x10.5 on the way if the deal goes through which it should over the next few days or so....
