Since we are pretty much talking engines here, not cars, let's compare apples to apples.
That LT1 that will 'kill' the LS1 GTO, what's the raceweight of the vehicle it's in? I bet you it's a lot lighter than a GTO. Let's compare engine to engine here. LT1 were great at the time. LS1's routinely dyno 60-70+rwhp over LT1's bone stock, and LS2's...well it's possible to dyno 100rwhp over them.
If you want to jump into an engine vs. engine debate, let's have a little more info about this awesome LT1.
