One quick question for all posters;
Is your 4th gen f-body or GTO the nicest car you have ever owned? Because (getting away from drag racing again) this can play a major part in your opinion of each car.
I personally own a Suburban that is nicer than both and had a TBSS that was nicer than both. So for me, a 4th gen LSX car is WAY down the totem pole.

My 97 STS caddy is the best dd ever but its time to move on to the 99 M6 formula I have been looking at. The goat is a good dd to but its nice to take a break and drive a car with less power so when I get in the goat it still feels fast.

Stock for Stock an LS1 GTO will get walked all day by and LS1 F-body. LS2 GTO vs. LS1 F-body is pretty much a driver's race. F-bodys weigh ~500Lbs less than the GTOs do. That's a big difference and certainly matters. The GTO is a nicer car than the F-bodys IMHO, the interiors are nicer and with the IRS lends itself better to a DD but for all out performance F-body > GTO. BTW I have a cammed 04 PBM 6-sp GTO.
I would be willing to bet a few small mods on an '04 GTO will have an F-body. And I think a good driver on an '05 GTO will beat the F-body cars by a couple of car lengths. F-bodies are slightly lighter, and have a solid rear which = better launches. From a roll, I'd be willing to bet the car with a healthier running motor would win. (That's how close it would be)

^^^^ says the guy with the knock off ram air TA hood. and the inside should be nicer IT"S A NEWER CAR' ***.. every year they revise and make improvements on the interior and quality and as for the rattling... wait till your car is 7 years old and see if it doesn't develope little noises...I've raced a couple GTOs some stock some with a few mods (when my car was damn near stock) and every time i ripped'em out of the hole and kept on pulling....and back to my original statement they look like an overgrown Grand-prix " wide track". lolololol.. and if the GTO is such a great car why such a short production run?

Is it better than my Silverado.... hard call... but they are so differant... I don't think it is even fair to compare them. The bird is a fast car.... the Silverado a workhorse.
