Default Best/Stickiest STREET tires

looking for the best/stickiest street tire for the rear for the GTO. Mostly gonna be for DD but I want some that are gonna grip when I gun it. The Sumotomo POS tires on there just arent consistant. My 60 jumps from 2.0 to 2.2 in the same conditions....any thoughts?

I wouldnt DD any drag radial but if you do the Nitto is the only option.

I would get an extra set of rims for the track and mount M/T drag radials on them.

I'm looking for the same thing, the best hooking daily driver radials. I don't necessarily want to run drag radials though, like one step below.

Right now I've got 255/45/17 Kumho Ecsta MX tires on my goat and they aren't bad considering the amount of power of the car puts down.

Are the Nitto DRs the next step? or is there something in between?

I have no choice but to rund BFG 275 Drag Radials, I love them and would never put another Nitto on my car. They last a little longer than MT but less than Nitto but give more grip and are better in the rain then MT.

I have DDed Nitto 555 DRs for the past two years. I get less then 10k out of them, but love the grip. Just be careful in the rain, especially when they get a little wear on them.

Best DD tire for the goat is the 245 Nittos. They are good hooking tires for the mods that are in your signature.

Ouch, only 10k miles out of Nittos? That's like new tires every 3 oil changes.

When you guys say Nitto 555 do you mean the Nitto 555DR or regular Nitto 555?

In all honesty I average about 6k on mine once you throw a couple visits to the track in the mix. You will get even less out of the other drag radial alternatives. Have to pay to play

I was talking about the drag radials. I run 275/45 17s. I had to roll my fenders about but they do not rub.

I'm happy with my Toyo 245/40/18 T-1R's on my GTO. I've drag and road raced with them. I have 20K mile on the tires but the rears do need to be replaced! Hell over 100 passes and never rotated them can't be that bad! I cut a 1.81 best 60 ft with them too.

for the price my Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals are hard to beat. put 285s on the back and she hooks and corners better than my Nitto 555s did

If you dont make much power you can stick with street tires. at 550+ you have no choice but to run a drag radial as the streets are too dangerous. I still cant hook with drags. Thats what you get with power.

pick up a spare set of wheels...
no need for wasting drag radials plodding around town looking for the occasional race(get to a local track and you will find a race)...cornering and wet road traction should be your street driving needs...
