are A4's good for auto-X
JW..its something ive done one time and would love to do again. I had an S-10 on ZQ8 suspension which handled ok through the gates. I hear F-Bodys are really good at Auto-X...how does an A4 stand up?

I have a track preped 02 with an 4L60e. It dose very well with the auto becouse it can stay in gears longer so shifting on most courses is not neceiseary. But it suffers at Time trials and Hillclimbs (dosent downshift well) I will be installing a m6 before the next high speed event but the auto is ok for autox.

The A4 LS1 is one of the best for Autocrossing. I think Sam won the nationals with an A4 in F-stock or ESP, can't recall. I do know that A4 3rd gens kick *** in F-Stock. I have Auto-Xed my A4 quite a bit, there is no need for shifting in auto-x, unlike RR and DR. Just set it in 2nd after the holeshot and you can concentrate on driving.

i did some autox in my car. did decent on all stock suspension except for tubular lca's which probably hurt more than they helped haha. still lotsa fun. can't wait to try out my new setup.

you could do that and know exactly when it's going to shift. i thought it was pretty interesting.

i mean for autocross starting in 1 or D and then just leaving it in 2 does fine, but for road racing or something it'd be nice. maybe for drag so your car doesn't short shift into 2nd if you have to feather it or something.

Stock trans tune settings suck for kickdown but if you
get it set up right, things just happen the way your
right foot says they should. That and a moderate
converter will make it a lot better behaved.

that's good to hear. not gonna have enough money for a stall for a long long time anyway but that's one thing that was scaring me. i don't wanna have to choose between drag and autox because i don't do either nearly enough to build my car for one specifically, but i'd like to have a car that's pretty good at both. and a 6 speed swap is just too much work.
