Default Newbie to road racing... Houston Area

I am VERY new to the sport. I have done a lot of drag racing but no road racing. Is there a good CHEAP place in the Houston area I should try? Or a car club I should look into? Basically I’m looking for an inexpensive way to get my feet wet in this sport.

Thanks,
Ross

not if you sign up w/ Drivers Edge when they rent the track.
more like $250 for the weekend and you get an instructor.

Definitely look for a driving school (High Performance Driving Event) that provides instructors. They are typically around $300 for a weekend, which initially sounds like a lot but it's fully worth it. This is the way to start.

The Drivers Edge has been meantioned but I don't think they run MSR - Houston. They run at at Texas World Speedway in College Station though.

Yeah, a complete hack...one look at his car will convince you.

Ross...Nasa Texas is running at TWS in College Station the 18th and 19th. You can sign up for their HPDE program. You can also check out the Camaro Mustang Challenge and American Iron cars, meet a bunch of guys that race f-body cars...guaranteed fun.

You definitely should make it out to TWS for the NASA race weekend.

I am one of the HPDE1 instructors and would possibly be riding with you.

Yeah, he rode with me once... a ride he will never forget.

Long live the Camry.

Ross, I live in Pearland and am a '09 CMC rookie; if you think you might be interested in learning more about CMC, join up at the aicmctexas.com site and drop me a note here or there if you want to come see the car and ask some questions.

www.NASA-Texas.com
www.driversedge.net
www.apexdrivingacademy.com

Porsche and BMW clubs also rent the track for you to sign up and do the weekend.
