What specific info are you looking for? A lot of stuff is allowed.

The most popular mod that will move you from ESP is sub-frames. That goes to SM.

Ok sorry I should have been more clear. I was kind of tired when I posted that. I went and raced this weekend and got bumped out of stock class because of my wheels and tires. So I was wondering what else I can do to my car without getting bumped up to the next class. I see I can't do sub-frames that’s a let down.
Thanks

What wheels do you have?

You can do all the FS stuff (front sway bar, cat-back, shocks) as well as springs, lid, etc..

Hang around with the other ESP guys and see what they've done. Suspension is paramount.

All I have is a cat-back LSS and wheels and tires.
Thanks

Thanks.

I didn't want to put up a bunch of stuff in case I was incorrect. I run SM and am not fully aware of all the ESP rules.

While we're talking about autocross classes... I'll start a new thread.

Sorry to keep asking all the questions but what can I do in SM besides sub-frames. Or if you guys know a site where I can look this stuff up myself that would be good too. I could not find anything on the SCCAs web site.

Street Mod is pretty much wide open. Brakes, suspension, engine, rear end.. mostly open. Only 2pt sub-frames.

The question for SM is what can't we do.
Here's a link for SM rules http://www.wincom.net/trog/stu/rules.html

are roll cages allowed? I wouldn't think so, since they don't allow anything more than 2 pt SFCs.

You can do a lot of popular bolt-on's in ESP. No SFC's, and no alternate control arms or subframes. But bushings are mostly free (get a rulebook), springs, shocks can be changed provided you don't relocate anything. Swaybars are open. Panhard bars and Torque arms can be changed. Differentials are free, but you have to run an available from GM gear (2.73, 3.23, 3.42). Pads, brake lines, fluids, front seats all all allowed to be changed. You can install a bolt-in cage. Computer tuning is free, as is all intake and exhaust stuff.

You cannot make an illegal mod to accomplish a legal one. Say cutting panels to install a cold-air intake.

That's the basics, but I URGE you to get a rulebook and read it closely. And remember, unless something is specifically allowed, it is illegal.

Lids are fine. Is the other stuff ok? Only if you don't have to remove or cut any other parts to get it installed.

So you can't run Konis on the lower spring perch in ESP?

You can. You can change the ride height, you can't relocate suspension pickup points (excepting the panhard bar), change shock mountings, etc.

Try this.
Why not get another set of legal (stock) wheels & some
used race tires (Kuhmo) and stay in F-stock. If you like it
buy some good adj. shocks & learn what it takes to go faster.
My times are usually good for 3rd thru 6th in esp. We average about
8-12 cars in esp. The guy that finishes 1st in fs in his z28 spanks
the esp class, spanks 'em, yep.
Now remember, I am driving a Big Ole Black 95 Impala SS, 4200 lbs.
I have stock wheels (heavy) Kuhmo v-700 used race tires, & QA1
adjustable shocks, Borla cat back, K&N filter. Baby seat w/minnie mouse.
Spend your money on entry fees. Adj. shocks. Race tires.
Learn to drive smooth & fast. Slow in-fast out. Ride with the fast guys.
Get the most out of your car in f-s, save up, then go to esp.
There are several mods that I want to do to my Impala, but I
don't, because it will bump me to esp.
2002 Al. Region SCCA F-S Champion. (In an Impala)
Have Fun
