Default Oil for road course?

Finally getting the Ls swapped girl car...I mean miata out to the road course this weekend. I've been autocrossing all year using just mobile 1 5w-30.
But since the road course is much more demanding I'm wondering if I should move to a 5w-40?
No oil cooler yet, but I have a temp gauge to keep an eye on it.
Any thoughts?
Oil brand suggestions?

Not sure what part of the country you are in, but here in Texas, 100*+ ambient is not uncommon. AmsOil 20W50 Severe duty because I saw 300+ oil temps a lot of the time.

im in iowa, its getting down to the 30's here at night.
highs have been in the 60's but this weekend looks like high 60's.
i ended up getting royal purple 0w-40.
don't ask why, i guess im just a putz.
they had nothing in 5w-40.
isnt 20w-50 a bit thick?
and DAMN! 300 DEGREE OIL TEMPS?

We run Mobil 1 5w-30 in our road race stock cars powered by LS1's, in the southeast at Daytona, Sebring, Road atlanta, Homestead, Roebling etc without issue.

That's good to know, I might just stick to that since we stock it at work and I can get a better deal on it.
I have heard its better to use oils that are not marked "energy conserving" on the API label on the back of the bottle.

Big, well ducted oil coolers, right?

I had a small Setrab fan-pack ducted off of the radiator air intake.

On our tube frame Corvette we use a small Setrab located on the left front directly behind the cover with about a 5x5 inch duct opening. At Daytona with 90 degree plus temp, the water was 180 and the oil 240.

The Corvette is the one depicted in my avatar and the monte carlo was one of our GTA cars.

It went well.
Temps Hit 270 in first practice but stayed 260's and 250's rest of the weekend.
But it was cooler out so who knows what next summer holds.
Plus my turn signals are removed which puts cool air right on the motor, but then It goes out under the car, terrible for aero. So once I get a undertray, signals put back, and it hits 100f+ ill need the cooler I think.
