Red Group with PCA, getting more used to the car. Car had used take off race slicks on it. Still learning heel-toe downshifts, timing is still off a little as the shift should be later in the brake zone.
Suspension is stock, car makes about 395rwhp. Tires warm up about 4 minutes in. Watch in HD.
I am 6 seconds faster in this car than I was on similar tires in the Z28, I will get faster and dont plan on changing the car.

For all of those who like to broadly debate the "handling" abilities of a modded F-body versus a C5/C6 Corvette, this is good data.
I'm honestly surprised to see how much faster you are in the Vette despite the mods and seat time you had in your Camaro.....that speaks volumes about how much of an edge the Corvette has over the Camaro in stock trim.
All else being equal (including driver/tires/etc.), it would take a bunch of power and/or weight reduction to put up similar times on track with the Camaro.

That thing sounds amazing! What was done to the engine?
The first thing I notice is how quickly you can get on the power and how glued to the road it is. You look like you aren't even working hard!

The cars grip on those tires is up there, I can go faster in it's current state...I need more seat time.
BTW I hate the exhaust, way too loud. I am about to get my factory catback repaired and put it back on the car.

Get some pirellis on the front of that thing. They are in a different league than the continental (Hoosier) tires.
You would slap the STI killer around. Most people with a properly set up f-body would. That thing is a bunch of slapped together poorly chosen parts. I've seen videos of that car on track. It isn't all that BMR hypes it to be.

Crush a stock c6? Assuming a similar tire compound, there's no chance. BMR is always good for a joke.
Don't think I'm trashing the f-body. I have one, I track it. Love the car and its capabilities, but I'm not stupid. It will never be a corvette.

I think the C5 Z06 is probably one of the best track cars out there. For the money, I can't think of anything that can do what these cars can do on the track right out of the box, and still be able to drive it comfortably on the street. I don't really care for their looks, but that's not a deal breaker for me. The regular rear hatch I think looks better.
That being said, I really enjoy my 4th gen. I am almost always the only Camaro at track days and nobody ever expects to see me in their mirror. By the end of the day, I usually have people coming up to me scratching their head and asking what the hell I've done to make a car that they thought is only good for 1/4 mile blasts actually corner well.
FastFatBoy, I know you were always melting the brakes off your 4th gen, but other than that, what's your opinion in the difference in fun factor between the two cars? I know the Z06 is faster, but is it more fun?

I have a 2000 TA with a 408 in it I've been autocrossing for a few years. Typical Strano/koni set up. I'll be taking it to NOLA April 25th for their track day. First time on a road course for me. I wanna do the optima street car challenge in NOLA in September.
Really excited about it. Any tips other than the basic, fresh brake fluid, torque lug nuts, etc. ???

Other than the basics you have listed, what pads are you running? That car is going to be making some serious steam down the straights - need to have some really good pads in it. Better to go over prepared. I see too many people go to their first track day and cook their brakes and have to park it.

what 79TA said... I'll add to that and say- go easy and build up your speeds as the days progresses. IT would be a terrible experience and waste of money to go at it hard on your first session and wipe out of cook the brakes and sideline yourself for the rest of the day.
Same approach for the OUSC events, start out easy and get used to it. Then give it hell and have fun!
