Your car looks so well set up! Those front tires are insane! I'm from Western Ny myself, and have looked at a few events in NE Ohio. There's so many sanctioning groups out there it can get confusing. I'm sticking to wny-scca, but I've also done a Finger Lakes Region scca race (which sucked btw). I'm curious on how much power you're putting down, and the cars weight as well. My car is a tank, and I'm not about to go cutting it up to get the weight out. 5th gens are pigs. There's not a whole lot I can do to get weight out with swapping parts besides seats and wheels, although the factory wheels aren't that heavy. We are planning on running the Goodguys event in Columbus next year. Usually 6500+ cars show up (car show, cruise, and race cars).

I did run the Finger Lakes Champ Tour which was a lot of fun. Odd that you didn't like the SCCA event there.
Haven't had the car on the dyno since 2010 (337/341 on a Mustang) and a lot has changed since then. Guesstimate it makes ~370whp or so. Weight is 3300 with me in it although it was a bit heavier than that at nationals this year as I didn't get a chance to drain the extra fuel out.
Good Guys events look horrible, I actively avoid going even though it's about 10 minutes from my house.

about Good Guys, I go to Columbus every year, but I don't A/X there. In fact, I wouldn't call it a A/X, as it's so small & tight

I don't get how some of those groups run/design those courses, or how people keep coming back to it. And it's the Muscle Car Challenge "pro touring" sort of groups. 600 HP super modded classic muscle and they run in 1st gear with 10,000 cones on a postage stamp? And the thing is, you CAN make a decent course on small lots without 10k cones. My region has a pretty small lot and I can design a pretty quick fun course that people give me compliments on. I don't see why those course designers or groups can't get some outside help on making honestly fun and open courses. Does nobody at those events ever complain about the course?

I've run the Goodguys Columbus, it's more of an experience thing more than anything. Don't expect to go there for great racing. You go to have fun and meet people while racing. For most that race nationally or even on the regular, GoodGuys Columbus would be a waste of time.
I've been there with my 95 Camaro and would go back with my new 03 Z06. My in-laws are close so it's good to see everyone when racing.

Goodguys courses are designed to get hot rodders out of their folding chairs. The courses are tight, slow, and technical to keep speeds down so everyone is safe in a confined area. It's also setup to make the courses short enough to make a lot of runs each day, so the "first timers" will have a chance to make a pass or two and get the experience of driving.
